TS2015 Unable to access third-party routes from menu?

Post by 37114 »

I don't seem to be able to access any third-party routes from the new menu. Has anyone else found this?

Yes, you must not use the route filter - once you click on the standard scenario tab just scroll down in the right section, all routes should be there.

When you click on the left side to filter by route, only DTG routes are shown. Don't know if it is intentional or not...

Oh yes. Actually functionally the same but more difficult to access. Hmm.

I've just been in game and I appear to be able to filter by route fine. I have The Scottish East Coast Mainline listed along side all of the route made by Dovetail Games that I own. Now of course the thumbnail is currently missing but that appears to be the same for most routes in the game at the moment. Hopefully a patch in the next few days will bring this back still, at-least that route is appearing in the menu, can't comment on other DLC as that's the only third party route I own.

Much more difficult to access IMHO.

Is the difficulty in getting to 3rd part routes just an(other) oversight by DTG or is it a deliberate attempt to make it harder to run 3rd party routes?

The latter I suspect.

3rd party routes aren't that difficult to find and run from the initial scrollable list, it's only when using the route filter that they become more hidden. If it's part of an evil scheme to get rid of 3rd party producers it's not very successful. Why is it that every problem/issue is thought of as having ulterior motives?

Thw new menu is a major step backwards in many peoples opinions and the only issue commented upon in this thread, nobody has said that every problem/issue has ulterior motives, let's be honest if that was the case DG could be in real trouble with the amount of unhappy chappies that are around at the moment! Also there was no mention of an evil plan to get rid of 3rd party producers, merely a suggestion, albeit highly speculatively, that the main function of the new menu was to promote DG products at the expense of 3rd party content, and ease and functionality of use, if not, I feel that is is over engineering on a large scale, which is a shame as I thought the 2014 UI was an improvement on the previous incarnation.

I for one was cautiously optimistic with regards to the release of TS2015 and there are some positives, as other people have said the graphics do appear much crisper for some reason, and some of the editing tools (eg the thumbnailed assets) are a great idea and will make things much easier for route builders in particular, but surely people still have the right to comment on issues be they good or bad :-? .

I wish Dovetail would implement a favourite scenario bookmark system this time. I agree the menu is over engineered. A simple menu clear with good search facilities is all I require. I do like the thumb nails and loco information features.

What I'm upset about is the fact that once you've finished a scenario and are at the summary screen, when you then select the tab to go back to the Standard routes/scenarios menu you are taken back to the top of the page alphabetically, not back to the last route/scenario you just completed. A bit of a nuisance having to scroll back to find what you want like it did previously.
