Italy: Venice to Milan

There's a new Italian freeware route, available at URL http://railworksitalia713.blogspot.it/2 ... no-10.html.

A second tab on the same page offers 4 scenarios.

The route is also up on SimTreni.net

I gather that the route is as yet not complete, running only to Vicenza (from Venice, I assume...).

The route download is 209MB.

Great find.

Venezia - Milano is quite a long way to do a detailed route. If I recall the MSTS version never made it further than Vincenza either.

A quick translation (not by me I hasten to add)...

You are cautioned that the first version is in the "beta" as they lack only the cables of the overhead line AV-AC between Padua and Venice Mestre as they are still under construction and will be added in later versions. For the rest of the line is complete and running, remember to read the file README and install everything correctly as shown. Be sure to install the specified route and ALL its Addons, especially please note that you must own the payware route Munich-Augsburg and London-Brighton, available on Steam.
Should it fail you, install these items.
Inside there are 4 scenarios free to depart from the main stations of the route, there should be no other problems .. Enjoy your trip !!! Please see the page "Updates" for any problems

I love Italian routes but they are always a massive undertaking to set up. I have the initial downloads so debating whether to wait for later versions first.

Requires 5 route:

-Route Munich-Augsburg
-Route London-Brighton
-Route Milano-Mortara and its addons (they have lots of assets)
-Route Brescia-Iseo and its addons (they have lots of assets)
-Route Torino-Genova v3 and its addons (they have lots of assets)

I do not install this Route. I would have many problems of stability. After uninstall problems.

It looks very interesting, but I will have to give it up because there are too many freeware downloads. This is a great limit in my opinion.

The other question is - how far will it progress. The Torino Genoa route came out a few years back and nothing much has happened on it for the last year or 2.

I have this route and it works without problems, the asset for "Torino-Genova v.3.0" are included in the setup file, the development continues and the 4.0 is planned for the end of 2014.

Wish I had not started this but spent all afternnon downloading stuff most of which I already had.

I have the 3 other Italian routes. The Czech and Dutch websites are down.

I am left with the list below of missing assets despite all the downloads. Before I bin the route does anyone have the files for any of these or is able to pinpoint where they came from. A long shot I know but I have already spent far too much time tracking assets down for this.

ChrisReb,

The TestTraK item is from the TestTraK DLC. Many of the Worcester-George assets are in the last three items on the Read-Me file (although some will need their paths adjusting). I can't find the (4) W-G 'Lampione' items but all the other W-G items are on AmiciTreni. I can't find the (5) Gabbo464 items either; possibly they have been omitted accidentally, or have been superseded or are simply just not been ready in time.

Everything else I have.

So my 'missing list' is down to just 9 items - not bad for a first issue of a free route?

Update:

The W-G Lampioni are also on AmiciTreni, at the location indicated by the second 'Lampioni' entry in the ReadMe.

So that just leaves me looking for Gabbo464's Venezia Milano items...

Having a go on the route despite the missing assets.

Running first scenario fine. Terrain does not extend too far from track but is of usual very high standard seen on Italian routes. Countryside gives a very true to life feeling. So far driven from Vicenza to Padova and very impressed.

Now if I could only find the missing assets...

About the different path.... the author had an old version of my objects when he released the route.
So the path is right but the reference of the route to the stations and streetlights I developed are wrong.
To solve this problem the route need to be updated. The author will do it soon I think....
