Re: DTG 45
Having just bought the Peak in the sale, I felt I had to comment on the sound set which is totally inadequate. After bulling up the sound recording session for this loco, I had high hopes..............................Oh deary me, what a dreadful misrepresentation of a great loco.............woeful!

Presumably all of the ire is aimed at the in-cab sounds ...?
Sounds like a Peak standing on the end of the platform

Completely agree, Bob; one 12LDA28 sounds very much like another 12LDA28bristolian wrote:If the sounds aren't too 'throaty', wouldn't it be possible to adapt the Class 47 sounds to use with the Peak?. The two locos do sound very close to each other in most respects

Seriously though, this most recent release/update sounds a lot better than the original, far from perfect, but a definite improvement.

It sounds like a Peak at tick over, but open the throttle and unimpressive is the word.rkk01 wrote:Presumably all of the ire is aimed at the in-cab sounds ...?

Agreed it is an improvement on the original, but wait until the AP soundpack comes along, it may just persuade a few people that the current sounds are indeed poor. It is a shame as it is a good model otherwise.Wikkus wrote:Completely agree, Bob; one 12LDA28 sounds very much like another 12LDA28bristolian wrote:If the sounds aren't too 'throaty', wouldn't it be possible to adapt the Class 47 sounds to use with the Peak?. Re: DTG 45
I don't think this has been asked previously, aplogies if it has.................does anyone know of any reskins for this model and or whether/either a 44 or 46 has been based on it?
Cheers, and happy new year to all!

In its previous incarnation, there was quite a nice looking 44, plus several variants of the 45 including different nose configurations and many namers.atlasduff47 wrote:I don't think this has been asked previously, aplogies if it has.................does anyone know of any reskins for this model and or whether/either a 44 or 46 has been based on it?

Unfortunately, like so many from that stable, they'd look great, but be deficient in other areas, meaning for me they were generally relegated to AI duties.
Since DTG's acquisition of this back catalogue, we've been drip-fed single models, improved upon, but still not quite spot-on. I anticipate this will continue for some considerable time until DTG switch their attention to the new platform.
I'd like for there to be a way to transplant the guts of the revamped 45 into the shapes of the previous models, but this is not something I have the time (or patience) to even investigate, assuming it's even possible.

Re: DTG 45
Thanks for the reply Rik, having got the previous incarnation, I completely agree with you about its deficiencies and the fact that the models from the stable in question mostly looked the part. It would indeed be great if a combination of the two could be accomplished, but I would imagine it would be an awful lot of work if it were possible, it's a shame that certain soundpacks can't be applied to the original models as this would help quite a bit imo, not that there's one out for the peak..........yet
Cheers,

It shouldn't take much to switch the scripting reference and the engine simulation files tbh, but I have neither the old nor the new so I can't help much further.
