They were banned in the 80's after a derailment IIRC, you can imagine the chaos caused. The complicated track-work and 1CO-CO1 wheel arrangement were not a good match, made worse from what I vaguely remember by some of it being relaid. For the most part the ban was fairly rigorously enforced, there were however a couple of notable exceptions when a Peak and a class 40 made it into Central at least once. I can remember a visit to Central at the time of the ban and seeing a 45 at the buffers with a rake of early MK2's. Rail Enthusiast magazine editions of the time will give you more details if you are interested. Prior to the ban, Peaks and 40's were regulars at Central, particularly pre-electrification, and in the early days when they were briefly top link motive power for the West Coast.

If I like the model and the price is okay then I'll consider this.

Perfectly in order to double head with a Class 50 on the Riviera Line. Photo taken at Coryton Cove, Dawlish on 29th August 1974 - happy days!

We will have to wait and see if we get any variants but so far only 45/1s have been shown.

Oh yeah, sorry just realised they are 45 not 46. No matter.

I think the issue is more the nose end rather than the minor bodyside differences

Wouldn't make a difference if someone was able to represent how Ixion was looking like until fairly recently https://www.flickr.com/photos/45726467@N02/15087844621

Just thinking out loud really, I was just wondering if a class 45 could be repainted to represent LMS 10000, with class 50 sounds would it be passable result. I remember seeing 10000 at Rugby shed in late fifties but I was told at the time it was the Deltic. I still haven't seen the Deltic.

For me no, about the only similarity is the cab windows, pretty much everything else including the wheel arrangement is different. But if you can live with it, go for it

Hi
The 2 L.M.S. 10000 and 10001 were CO-CO's the Peaks are 1 CO-CO 1,also I the 2 L.M.S Loco's were shorter.

It could be done with the caveats mentioned above. I think the bodies look quite similar but the bogies are the biggest thing.

It is something I'd consider when it comes out if its suitable enough for me to buy.

I was thinking the bodysides were too different as the Peaks have the large bodyside grill which is missing from the LMS twins.

Hi,
Basically I think I 10000 and 10001 look nothing like a Peak
