I'm surprised that no-one hasn't said nothing about the 156, this needs a cab upgrade along with RETB signalling which includes the actual box in the cab!

Looking at it Tom,the route may well be based on the period before the 156's were used on the route?
Although you do have a good point, would be a nice addition to the 156...to see it function.

Yeah, but would be nice to include some 2000's modern scenes, regardless on the period?almark wrote:Looking at it Tom,the route may well be based on the period before the 156's were used on the route?

Surely the class 67 should also be updated as they are used on the Caledonian Sleeper and also the 66 needs to be updated as well they are used on freight trains and also the class 20 I think the were used on some freight trains.

If I was making the route for freeware then yeah for sure I would but I can understand why Keith/Thomson might not want to,you'd only get the FB brigade asking if it comes with this and that.... etc
There is virtually no difference in the route from 1980's to now anyway to be honest, only thing that's changed is the undergrowth so anything will look good on there

This route looks great, as regards to the 2000's if you look closely on the photo of Fort William Station, it does actually say "Morrisons" as apposed to Safeway or whatever it was before!

Re: Thompson interactive. WHR coming soon
It's a bit of a shame that routes cannot be provided in 2 versions.
One Modern 2000+. One Steam 1960 ish
I done this to my modern routes, Remove Overhead Electrics, Alter Station Signs, Swap Signals, Remove the Odd NEW building, Add a representation of lost sidings. The rest, scenery can stay.
A real pain when you retro'ing a new route, but I would have thought easy to do when producing a route from new. Your just producing two seperate routes as you go along.

It would be interesting to see if it was possible to port the RETB controls into other locos and units plus add in a working portable RETB unit into the cab so they can be used on the route with the signalling working. Found this PDF on the RGS website about RETB if anyone is interested more in how it works, etc http://www.rgsonline.co.uk/Railway_Grou ... ss%202.pdfmichaelhendle wrote:Surely the class 67 should also be updated as they are used on the Caledonian Sleeper and also the 66 needs to be updated as well they are used on freight trains and also the class 20 I think the were used on some freight trains.

The line is modelled from Spean Bridge in to Fort William, just under 9 miles of single track, then from Fort William to Mallaig which is another 40 miles.david1 wrote:I have never been a fan of single line routes in the simulator world as AI traffic is very limited, but that all changed with Keith Ross`s Port Road route as I like the single line section just as much if not better than the double track, if the route is made very well like Port Road then Single Lines are just as fun to drive, looking at the screen shots this route looks fantastic and I always like the Scottish Highlands, I will be buying this route
The Alcan aluminium sidings are near Fort William and the Corpach wood mill is at 2.00 miles just after Corpach station. There are passing loops at Glenfinnan [14.5m] and Arisaig [32m]
So freight and normal traffic is limited

I find it also very interesting this feature of the route:

Thomson Interactive wrote:Dynamic snowdrifts that can be ploughed by the locomotive.
Awesome!!Engine Driver wrote:Snowploughs are fitted automatically depending on season, and interact realistically with the new snowdrifts, punching through the snow and leaving clear rails behind.
Re: Thompson interactive. WHR coming soon
As someone who has travelled by train to Mallaig and climbed a lot of the mountains along the route, I am really looking forward to this one.

I am sure this will be a brilliantly modelled route knowing the standard of Keiths previous work, but spean bridge seems an odd starting point.
I know it unrealistic to expect the route all the way back to Glasgow, but Crainlarich would be a better start point being the junction, or Tulloch being the end of the section over Rannoch Moor where the line turns towards Fort William.
But come what may, I am sure I will enjoy the standard of this route.

Aye, looking forward to this one too, Spent a lot of time in my youth at Arisaig, I can remember them loading the trains with the fish at Mallaig even loading cars on the ferry with a crane in the days before RoRo.Fudgie81 wrote:As someone who has travelled by train to Mallaig and climbed a lot of the mountains along the route, I am really looking forward to this one.
