Route not showing in RW Tools
Hi mike. seem to be having nothing but bother with Kieth Moss's WCML2 ( is this the - over shap) version.
As you mentioned in the earlier posting on this subject (Jan 2014) you can use the NameMyRoute.exe to establish the associated number for any route installed.
Well just as a poke and hope exercise, I've just tried it. I find I have 12 routes, including WCML2, with the comment "missing RouteProperties.xml" against them.
Why have they lost these files and what effect if any has this on the installation - your advice would be appreciated.
I suspect I along with a lot of people are becoming extremely wary of opening these AP files. I tried opening them all as I couldn't determine the correct one. But after an hour waiting for the task to finish gave up. Would this explain the above problem?

All routes now being issued by RSC/DTG or whatever they call themselves this week are in .ap folders.
The easiest way to list them in either RW_Tools or in 'NameMyRoute' is to run RW_Tools and in the files menu select 'Find all .ap files'
Select all of the route files which will all have the file name MainContent.ap by holding down CTRL and left clicking on each of these files. Once you have highlighted them all, click the button (bottom right) which says 'Extract RouteProperties.xml from selected' this will not take long but will place the RouteProperties.xml of each route in its correct place in the file tree and allow you to at least list all of the routes in RW_Tools.

Re: Route not showing in RW Tools
Hi Mike,
Thanks a lot for your guidance. I can as you stated, now at least. see all my routes.
I was just about getting some confidence in using your program a year or two ago. But on finding RW seeming to get more bugs than a house with woodworm. I stopped playing the game, couldn't stand the increasing frustration with it.
Just come back of late, and lo nothings changed, in fact there are even more GUI hurdles than before i.e AP files , confusing menu's and DTG's abject refusal to give us a pukka Joystick/ Throttle interface facility.
To have, a Joy/Throttle combination bought specifically for Simulation Games sitting on the desk gathering dust, does not make sense to me.
Forgive me , I know wrong forum for this rant.

Re: Route not showing in RW Tools
Hi Mike,
more problems. downloaded UKTS 3342 RR Class 31 to M'Chester.
But had very similar problems as before, i.e train not showing. Sometimes when I try I get the error message "cannot load class31 .......". other times the scenario loads up but w'out the Class 31 being displayed.
After a couple of EMails between the Author and I , we established I did have a Regional re-skin of the class 31. But not the Steam market one he had devised the scenario around. I had the UKTS_26779 version.
Now this is where I hope you can shed some light on what is amiss here. The Author suggested I swap the two class 31 items. I tried to do this using RW_Tools, but when I brought up the scenario in the scenario editor (See attached JPG) I found that all the consists are listed except the driven consist so a swop cannot be done.
Just for info I've attached the other two jpg I sent to the Author as an explanation of the problem.
Hope you can explain this conundrum,
Many regards JohnT

Re: Route not showing in RW Tools
John,
If you look at the instructions for UKTS_26779 you will find that it is a reskin and that you have to already own the RSC Class 31 Addon. It appears you don't have the RSC version, so UKTS_26779 is not going to work. That is why it won't show up in RW_Tools.
Rob.

Re: Route not showing in RW Tools
John,
Have you actually bought the original Class 31 from RSC/DTG? The original error message you got about "can't load..." implies that you haven't. I don't have the Class 31 so I can't say for sure, but are the folders that show up in your Class31Pack01 folder all reskins that you have downloaded? If you don't have the original then the reskins aren't going to work.

Re: Route not showing in RW Tools
Hi Rob,
seems a ittle confusion creeping in here.
Yes I did purchase the original Class 31 from Steam see (attachment). But the 31 Regional engine this scenario wants is the one that Steam still advertise, along with the
Class 101Strath, both of which they now refuse to sell.
And as RW-Tools scenario editor doesn't list the driven Classs31, I cannot swap it for the Class31 I do have.

Re: Route not showing in RW Tools
Sorry I can't help without further info. There is no File 3342 in uktrainsim and a search for RR Class 31 to Manchester does not bring up anything, so that does not help either.

Re: Route not showing in RW Tools
What would happen if;
the OP ran the scenario he didn't have the correct stock for,
The game says hold on you havent got the correct stock, do you want to exit or edit.
The OP chooses Edit and then Save.
Has the scenario just been saved without that piece of missing stock? meaning that when it was opened in RW Tools the Driveable consist wouldn't be there?
Just a thought, and if correct, reinstalling the scenario and then swapping the loco before playing, should work

Re: Route not showing in RW Tools
Sorry Mike,
must be suffering a touch of Dyslexia, the scenario is UKTS_33242 Regional _Railways_Class_31_to_Manchester.rar
The Class31 Regional Railways reskin I have is UKTS_26779.
I think that just about covers it all

I went to the downloads section here, and although I have now got the Class 31 reskin (it installed fine and appears in the list of available stock under RSC in the scenario editor), the scenario 33242 is no longer available and I suspect must have been withdrawn by the author? So there is nothing I can do without it.
Dave's suggestion is possible, I just am not sure what would happen under the circumstances he describes, but it is possible that resaving would save the scenario without the loco, I just am not sure.

Re: Route not showing in RW Tools
Hi Mike.
Well would you believe it. Got exactly the same problem with the Creston Route and UKTS_21740, activity. I turn up, the empty wagons are there but no engine.
I must admit that when I first bootup these scenario's and I get the usual "cannot load ......" and/or the "broken consist" messages.
My first instinct is to go to "edit" , right click and move about slightly then F2- "yes" and then bottom right corner restart.
So to see if Dave has the answer, I'll re-install this scenario and see if it works this time around.
Once again thanks for the interest by all.

Re: Route not showing in RW Tools
Hi,
Just FYI, removed the scenario in question using RW_Tools. Re-installed it using the package manager, and there was the engine.
Couldn't see anything through the windscreen and the train brakes don't work. Shut down RW and rebooted and turned of TSX on the Graphics page on settings.
Can now see through the windscreen, but the brakes still do not work.. Will re-install the engine the morrow.
But to summarise seems Dave was onto something, will play around with both these scenarios to-morrow.

Re: Route not showing in RW Tools
OK Mike/Dave,
to summarize to-days efforts. Re-installed JT Class60 advanced, re-installed UKTS_21740. Booted up RW_Tools, edited the scenario from UKTS_21740 and chose the BSteel class 60 instead of the DB one initially wanted. Saved changes booted up RW, chose Creston and the scenario " Fordham Steel - Hatton Quay". Suffice to say it loaded up with with the engine and the scenario was playable, up to the point of an AI leaving it's path to-wards the end of the scenario.
Bearing the above in mind, went back to the original scenario i.e, "RR Class31 to Manchester" . Re-installed the scenario and then replaced the Class 31 regional with the Class 31 Regional I had.
The scenario then ran from beginning to end with no problems, I shall be getting in touch with the Author to enlighten him with these findings. If he re-instates the scenario to UKTS library its well worth the effort to install, if you have not got the DTG version of the Class 31 then do as I have and swap for the one in the D/L Library.
In conclusion, as Dave suggested, it would seem that on being informed that an item cannot be loaded. If the edit screen is then opened and the cursor moved. Followed by F2 and save and then to the restart icon (bottom right corner) . Then the missing item will not show if the route and scenario are called up in RW-Tools scenario editor.
Well spotted Dave - many thanks for that.
So just to repeat for the uninitiated - error screen reporting broken consist - go to edit -move cursor - F2-save - restart. Error screen showing cannot load - quit - open RW-Tools and clone scenario - go to edit scenario - swop the offending item.
Long day, done.
