Another new short route, this time on Railworks America.
Poppularly known as 'The Skunk Train' , this is a heritage line running in from the US West Coast at Fort Bragg.
Although now the haunt of GP9m locos (GP9 rebuilds) this was once a logging line. You can read about it at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/California ... n_Railroad. You will note a splendid list of past steam stock (Britkits, here I come!) including Shays and some of those quirky US railcars.
The route as modelled winds inland through redwood forest to a mainline connection at Willitts; I've explored eastwards a little way and - from what little I've seen of Californian redwood forest - it's well rendered.
The route sets up easily enough - I avoided the .exe file and just copied the Assets and Content files directly into my US set. There's a 1.4GB download of freeware - it's VERY slow and you may find it easier and quicker (I did) to check your incremental needs using RW_Tools and then download what you need from (eg) Railworks America, DPS Simulation, UKTS and Trainsimulator New Zealand.
Thanks due to yet another enthusiast modeller, David Elsner!
Kind regards,
John M
PS An excellent place to try out my new Shay D...

Had a look, but it seems to need 10 US routes for all the assets - I think I've got half of them
Also found the matching stock at Britkits - http://stourbridge-lion.webplus.net/page26.html, all very interesting, but I think this is a project for another day.
All the best,
Steve
