TS2014 taking AGES to start up!

Post by msey0002 »

What's going on? Loading times on TS2014, both to start up and also to load a scenario are taking absolutely ages all of a sudden (a week or so). It has virtually become unplayable. I've also done a verify cache but it seems to not have made a difference.

If it helps, my PC is fairly high end and has never had a problem before.

Any help appreciated.

Thanks!

Not noticed anything.

Have you tried Soring , or moving out most routes and seeing if that helps?

Loading of game itself usually longer the more scenarios in routes that I have. Scenario loading only slow for big scenarios with lots of stock or if Windows is doing some background processes. The only way I find to deal with the latter is to restart Windows to get some measure of control back.

my install is in fact fairly moderately sized. A problem is also the actually loading of the game itself to get to the main menu

There may not be an easy answer:
Have you tried a Windows "clean boot" and see if TS2014 loads faster - if it does a non-windows program/app is the problem. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135
May be worth trying a boot in "safe mode" too
Windows + r/R key type in "sfc /scannow" no quotation marks and space after sfc. Say OK or enter Any errors
Windows + r/R key type in dxdiag and say OK/Enter - look at 32/64 bit modes - any errors.
If you know how to - run CCleaner and also do a registry clean.
How full is the TS2014 HDD and when was it last defragmented?
Have you changed anything recently?
Is your antivirus setup to allow TS2014 to run OK same with Windows UAC/Firewall.
Have you changed the monitor resolution recently?
Temperatures in PC OK.
and so on
Good luck

My (very large) TS2014 installation took 15 minutes from starting Steam to running the London-Ipswich route last week. Turned out my HDD was failing - CHKDISK took 8 hours to run and found a lot of errors.

New HDD installed and all is OK again.

Mine takes quite a while to load up these days, think that is down to the number of routes installed as it is not slow just since the last update but gets slower as time goes on, if I run my dlc only files it loads up much faster, have you tried culling a few routes, I am planning on storing all my none English routes in a separate folder to speed up load times, also have you tried defraging the HDD if also the data is spread around the drive it will take longer to load up.

Another common reason that the scenarios slow loading often happens in third party routes which have used a lot of assets from several different providers. I think this is the most common reason.

Have you checked that V-Sync hasn't somehow become enabled in the graphics card (not the in-game) settings?

Mine takes 30 seconds from the time I click on the start icon to the main screen. Takes about 15 seconds or so more if I have just added something.

Blimey, thats an age! It takes 1 min 4 secs for mine to get there, that is a rise of about 30 seconds from last week? Wonder what's changed?
