Routes with Mining or Quarrying Assets
I need some quarrying / mineral handling assets...
Large scale hoppers, conveyors and loading towers / chutes - both for a hard rock quarry and for a coke works.
I'm aware of the JT Avonmouth coal loading tower, but that's not really the right style.
Shap quarry might be ok, but possibly a bit too small?
The new coal district kit looks good (but huge!), but I don't have that route
Thanks

rkk01 asked for suggestions...
"Developed by Oovee, the Hatchet Hill Quarry Expansion Pack includes the Class 04 shunter, Catfish ballast wagons and a 5-mile quarry route complete with ballast loading station, which
Includes:-
5 mile Hatchet Hill fictional route with custom assets and ballast loader.
Class 04 shunter with opening doors and window animations in BR Blue livery and Mendip Aggregate Ltd livery
Catfish ballast wagon with dynamic ballast load."
And, if £14.99 is more than you want to spend, you could look at the North Yorkshire Coast route, UKTS 30433 (taking care not to abuse your downloader licence, of course, if you plan to publish...
).
Kind regards,

You could try Hatchet Hill, the description for which on Steam says:-I need some quarrying / mineral handling assets...

New route and looks good even if i'm not into US stuff its very tempting. Some nice looking coal conveyors and hoppers but most likely modelled as 1 item.

Re: Routes with Mining or Quarrying Assets
Hatchet Hill might be OK if all you need are the assets but it would be an expensive way of obtaining them and I cannot recommend this route otherwise. A number of the supplied scenarios have never worked and despite several e-mails to Oovee over the past few years (!) they've never replied. I don't expect miracles but for £14.99, I do expect what I buy to work, or at least receive some acknowledgement from the authors that it's flawed and being fixed....JohnM1945 wrote:rkk01 asked for suggestions...You could try Hatchet Hill, the description for which on Steam says:-I need some quarrying / mineral handling assets...

Thanks...!
I have deliberately stayed away from Hatchet Hill on the basis of the "it's broke" comments.
Will see how the Shap assets look

Re: Routes with Mining or Quarrying Assets
I just remembered - how about mark Thompson's superb Skinningrove Ironworks & Boulby Mine route? Or his more recent update, North Yorkshire Coast? They're both freeware and may have what you're looking for:

The DTG 'Memories of Maerdy' pack could be what you're looking for (Austerity tanks and South Wales colliery route)

Which will be an RSC asset, if not from Settle-Carlisle from some other *official* route. The workshop doesn't support user created assets as yet.Alicatt wrote:The latest incarnation of the Settle to Carlisle 1975 in the Steam Workshop has a small quarry in it

Re: Routes with Mining or Quarrying Assets
You could check out how RobertM made his quarry in his Esthwaite route? I seem to remember that looking quite convincing. Seemed to be a small scale rock blasting operation however.

Apologies for missing this months ago, but the route uses all the original S and C assets, as well in the future some Academy stuff. Not using the Hatchet hill, though I did allow myself to take some shots with the excellent shunter from it which probably caused the confusion.
alls the best

If this thread is live again...
Some suggestions, in addition to those mentioned previously...
1. Project Platform (UKTS Community) has a quarry and assets;
2. Montour Railroad (US freeware) has coal industry assets;
3. Panamint Crossing (US freeware beta now, going to payware soon) has some very good-looking mining assets, including vehicles;
4. Dick Cowen (Britkits) has a steel industry pack;
5. Michael Stephan (Golden Age of Railroading) has some (freeware) mining-related structures;
6. RWA Lakeside (Railworks America Community) may offer some assets.
Kind regards,
John M
