Which route to purchase.

I can only purchase one route in this sale so which of the following do you think I should purchase. Munich-Garmisch-Patenkirchen, New York New Haven, The Riviera Line, Canadian Mountain Passes or West Somerset.

If it were me and I wasn't bothered by a different country I think it would be the Canada one. If you want to stay on UK shores then Riviera is fantastic and comes with a very good unit in the Class 143.

Summer Sales are the only time I buy routes, as they are quite expensive.

This year I bought the Riveria and West Somerset. Both are good.

I like these two routes as well as they provide a more sedate driving experience, but I also like the Maerdy Branch which offers some great shunting opportunities, but not much in the way of speed

Munich-Garmisch-Patenkirchen got a bit of bad press on the RailSim.de forum because of misplaced signals and other errors but the german community made a patch and the route is better.
New York New Haven is interesting but the main EMU, the M8, is sort of unplayable because of graphics problems - a fix is being developed according to DTG's Facebook page
The Riviera Line is nicely done and if you like a modern uk route it's a good choice.
Canadian Mountain Passes is a long route where the max speed is 40 -50 mph and most of the trains are CP rail freight.
West Somerset is a nice route and comes with two Steam locos, a 33 and stock but it's a bit of a totter being a preserved line the maximum speed is 25mph so it takes about an hour to run the 20 or so miles.

My choice would be either Munich-Garmisch-Patenkirchen if you like european route or The Riviera Line.

It's hard to advise.
I like UK and German routes plus rolling stock and buy them all.
I own some US routes, but I use them occasionally.
Just follow your feelings.

Memories of Maerdy is one of my favourite add-ons. Taking the Austerity up and down that line, and picking up and dropping off passengers, is a challenge with expert driving controls. It really taught me how to use vacuum brakes on the down gradient, and how to conserve steam for the up gradient.

I think you also get a little 'Pug' 0-4-0ST thrown in

Riviera Line is needed for Barnstaple -Exeter which is a big point in its favour.
However, Mun-GP has been much improved by the recent patch.

There are a lot of scenarios on UKTS and Railsim.de for both.
Personally I'd go for Mun-GP but only since the patch . Needs a lot of German rolling stock for all scenarios.

Why not two routes. The Riviera Line is probably my first choice out of the list you've compiled, but NEC New York to New Haven is a very close second. The Riviera Line given its short distance is about half the price of a regular route. Plenty of room for another purchase!

NY to NH is a very comprehensive route. Depicts both major commuter transit hubs of NY with Grand Central Terminal and NY Penn Station and features two freight yards for some shunting activities for all of you who are interested in that. However, the main focus is its commuter rail and Amtrak services. Local commuter lines served by Metro North (M8 does lag a lot, but a patch is incoming), and high speed long distance rail serviced by Amtrak. Plenty to do, and is probably in my opinion, the most comprehensive of your list.

I know it's not on your list, but if you don't have it already, then it seems the "Memories of Maerdy" is an amazing value for money, especially for the current sales prices! Can't believed I didn't pick it up earlier in the sale!

The reason I didn't pick that was because it is a heritage railway. More interested in modern railways.

But the Riviera Line is an excellent choice in my opinion, as would be Munich - Garmish-Partenkirchen.
