Track Joint Sound
One of my biggest gripes with Railworks is the terrible 'pick pock' track joint sound that RSC have persisted with since day one of Railsimulator and still plagues todays releases like the class 56, 121 etc.
Does anyone know if there is a way of replacing the track joint sound with something better? For example one of the AP pro-pack track joints?
This factor alone would be enough to give a green light for me to purchase some of RSC's latest offerings. I can't stand to drive with that 'pick pock' sound tormenting my ears!!

Re: Track Joint Sound
You could try pointing the bogie audio control section in the .bin file of any item you feel could do with being better to one of the AP sound files. Might need a bit of detective work to find out which sound actually sounds like 'what', then you could look into changing the default track bed rumble sounds etc.
Somebody with more knowledge of how the sounds work might post with something a lot more informative than that, or even (hopefully) with *real* instructions, but as 90% or so of things in the game are editable/tweakable in theory there's nothing to prevent the sounds being changed.

Re: Track Joint Sound
Rather than repointing the files across and possibly having to enable other providers it would be easier (I think anyhow) to backup the original stock sound (by renaming), and then copy over the AP stock one and rename it to the one the stock is looking for already.rfletcher72 wrote:Yes, something I do on my TS with a degree of successgptech wrote:You could try pointing the bogie audio control section in the .bin file of any item you feel could do with being better to one of the AP sound files,

Any chance of an idiots guide chaps?
I'm fairly ok messing round with files but a step guide or illustration helps avoid any nasty mistakes!

SSS, road & Rail Sound Enhancement pack £2.50.
IMO very good, gives you the different joint lengths in the track on various routes.

Re: Track Joint Sound
Does that pack replace the default Kuju track sound? or just alter the rhythm/frequency?rcetank wrote:http://www.steamsoundssupreme.com/page_rrsep.html.

The Track Joint are as off the Web site;
Track joint fixes:
Those of you with good railway knowledge and a good ear may notice that on most routes with fishplate track, the track joints sound too far apart. This pack also includes corrections to that, again for default routes and DLC routes. Steam era routes have been set to 60ft track joints. The Isle of Wight has been set to 45ft, and I've included
both a 60ft track joint and a continuous welded track option for the Settle - Carlisle, as work has in recent years been done to replace much if not all of the fishplate track along that route. The default routes have their own .rwp file, as does each applicable DLC route.
Current compatibility:
Pre-TS2013 default routes (Somerset & Dorset Joint Railway and East Coast Main Line - both in 1 package)
Falmouth Branch
Isle of Wight
Settle to Carlisle
Western Lines of Scotland
Woodhead
There are other sound effects as well included in the pack.
You have a choice what you want to use, not a case of having to load up all of the items in the pack.

Yamsi, sorry I did not mean to embarrass you! I have spent most of my life in corners with the big hat on. LOL.
There are a lot of different sounds in the pack and for the price I though it was a well worth while investment especially as I have no idea when it comes to changing scripts, files, codes etc.
All I need to do with this is pick the rwp package I want & upload it to TS.
sincere apology Richard.
