I restore ECML London to Peterbrough try to run APC60P Ferne Park to Croft scenario. TS cuts to black screen. RWTools shows AP JHA and JT JJA stock missing. Check store and missing asset folders are in the store as they should be. So physically move the folders across and scenario will run. Further test restore all routes and assets, RWTools says no stock missing and scenario plays.
It has happened on other routes. I waited till this morning to reply as I wanted to replicate a specific instance with a clear head and computer. Obviously no one else has experienced this which makes it seem rather weird.
Best Wishes

Richard
StoreThem checks the ScenarioProperties.xml file for the stock used in scenarios. Although this file does include all locomotives, there are occasions where some freight stock does not seem to appear in the ScenarioProperties.xml file (I believe they should all be there, as this file is written when you select Provider/Products to use in a scenario in the TS2014 Scenario Editor). However if they are not listed, then my program won't find them.

I did try searching right through every Scenario.bin file, but this proved to be so time consuming that it is easier to just tick any missing items and add them manually.

Re: A 'TrainStore' like utility for TS2014 - New version

v1.0.31 - Includes a number of changes:-
a. New buttons on the 'Store Routes' tab - 'Store Everything'
and 'Restore Everything' which allow you to store/restore
all routes and assets with a single click of the button.
b. New buttons on the 'List all .ap files' tab to Select /
Unselect All .ap files to speed things up.
c. Height of window reduced again, hopefully all users will
now be able to see the buttons.
d. Fixed error handling for some options, e.g. If a user
clicks on the Extract button without actually selecting anything
the program was crashing.

Thanks for all your efforts over my prob and everyone else's and the great software you produce. As you note this seems to happen intermittently and many times its necessary to manually adjust something sometimes so no worries it may just iron itself out. Just as long as you know you are highly appreciated.

Hi Richard,

Are the missing assets not passed back when you click 'Restore All', or when you click 'Restore Selected' - or is this when you are restoring a single route and you are still missing some assets?

An example of exactly what is happening will help.

Thanks - Mike
First, thanks for this wonderful tool.

I have had a similar experience, so some details from mine:

I restored the China Clay route. I've added a number of third party scenarios, and used your RW_Tools program to swap stock I didn't have. In a number of cases, not all rolling stock assets were restored. They appeared to be the assets I swapped in. Checking each scenario in RW_Tools showed what was missing and I simply manually restored those and all is well.

I would have to do that each time, though.

Does swapping stock not update the properties file? The correct stock was listed in the scenario editor...it just couldn't find them because they hadn't been restored.

To answer several queries at once. The problem with missing assets is in RW_Tools, not StoreThem. This is the old problem that RW_Tools swaps stock OK, but does not update the ScenarioProperties.xml file when it does so.

I intend to have another look at this today, it did not really matter before but now it does. If I can fix that then we will all be happy (but it won't help existing scenarios where you have swapped items, but I believe that if you go into a scenario with the TS2014 scenario editor and move one of the trains a little bit, then resave the scenario the ScenarioProperties.xml will be correctly fixed).

Further to the above, I have fixed RW_Tools so that it now adds the Provider/Product items to the ScenarioProperties.xml file when you substitute an item of rolling-stock, so this now works OK.

However in the case of existing scenarios where you have made such changes, it will be necessary to go into TS2014 Scenario Editor and use the 'Object Set Filter' button to bring up the list of Providers/Products for the scenario and select the required items, e.g. RSC ES64Pack01 - each rolling stock item in the scenario must have green ticks alongside it for it to appear in the ScenarioProperties.xml file.

I have noticed that some scenarios, including some provided by RSC do not have all of the stock ticked, I don't know how this can happen as you can't select items in the Scenario Editor unless these boxes are ticked. Maybe they use RW_Tools as well? :-)

Hi Mike, i would just like to add my thanks to evrerybody else's.

Unfortunately, i have hit a major (i think?) hurdle. I have tried to unstore my routes and i can't, i get these screens.

http://i1094.photobucket.com/albums/i45 ... d884bd.png

http://i1094.photobucket.com/albums/i45 ... 283e9c.png

http://i1094.photobucket.com/albums/i45 ... 1eb98f.png

I now have no idea where my routes are!! My assets seem to have restored ok, because RW_Tools opens eventually and i can see them there through the ' Asset Editor' tab, but my routes are nowhere to be found and i have absolutely no idea what to do! :o :-? :(

Any help in getting them back would be massively appreciated.

Cheers

Quick update. I have just had a look in my Railworks/Contents folder, and my 'Routes' folder is not there. Nor is it in the 'StoreC' folder, so it has effectively vanished, i can't find it anywhere! :(.

Hi Terrone,

Can you tell me exactly what you did when this happened? All the program does is to rename StoreC\Routes back to Content\Routes, so there should be nothing which can go wrong as long as you have set up the path to Railworks correctly, and from your pictures that would appear to be the case.

The StoreThem.pdf file does state on the front page that you must back up both the Assets and the Content folders before you us StoreThem, so you should be able to fix things from the back-up if things go wrong, but I can't see where this problem can have happened.

You can try running Windows Explorer and navigating to the Steam folder, then type 00000001 in the search box top right and press Enter. This should show you where the first route is stored and give you the path.

Hi Mike.

I wanted to run a scenario on the RSC London-Peterborough route, so I stored all the routes that I wasn't going to use. I then tried to start TS2014, but I just got a black screen and a dump file. So I fired up Store Them again to unstore the routes to see if TS would then start. When I tried to unstore the routes, that's when the problems started. I don't think I did anything unusual. I will try your search suggestion, if not I have a routes folder back up.

Cheers

Hi Terrone,

I am trying to get to the bottom of why this happened, and hope it has not caused you too much trouble. So far I have not managed to get this to happen here, but will keep trying.

The best way to do what you wanted using the latest version is to run StoreThem and click the 'Store Everything' button, this stores all of the routes and assets. Then select the London-Peterborough route and click the Restore Selected box, this will unstore the route, its assets and scenarios, and should work OK.

Thanks Mike. I don't know if it will help but, in the scenario I wanted to run, I had swapped out the RSC class 321 for the AP 321, as I don't have the RSC version and there were a lot of consists using that unit.

Don't know if that helps?
