I haven't had any reply at all as of yet.
I got one this morning instructing me to carry out a verify of the game cache.

I think they missed the part in my email where it said I had already done that and completely uninstalled the game and installed everything from scratch.

Quite frustrated now.

It is their standard response, I got that and answered that the game was a fresh install for me also and then I got an email to the gist of "alright alright, slow down, we're looking and will get back to you". That was on Friday.

Right just to update, after the standard response, today I received an email from DTG support with the following.

"Dear Sir,

Thank you for contacting the dovetailgames.com customer support, your enquiry has been logged with a
member of our dedicated customer support team.

We are currently aware of the issue with the gantry catenary tool you have described, our developers are working on a fix and we hope to distribute it on STEAM once complete."

So, let's hope it doesn't take too long as it is a really powerful tool to use for OHLE.

Totally agree, as I am extremely loathe to investigate the problem, of others doing, and alter the tool in my kit.

I'd like to ask you gentlemen something, if i may..

I lost count of how many (frustrating) hours/days i have spend on trying to establish a satisfactory looking OHLE. Initially i tried the default O and S Wire Gantry Tool, apart from the poles looking quite bland i never could get the wires to hook up with the supports.

I have tried both the KHS and GE Gantry Tools with the same result as described here, the gantry poles hover above the ground. I have found a really beautiful set of Italian gantry/catenary which also includes a Gantry Tool. However it does not apply the wires automatically. A seperate tool is provided so that a piece of track can be selected whereupon the wires are placed. However they do not hook up with the supports, this has to be done manually. Does look magnifico once that's done !

Will be tremendous amount of work though... My question therefore : do you guys know of a Gantry Tool that *does* work correctly 'out of the box' ?.... Poles firmly on the ground and wires properly hooked up with the supports ?....

I have just about all payware routes (and some beautiful freeware ones, got the wonderful Italian gantry set from the amazing Ferrovia sul confine Francia-Italia route ) but i try to use not that much assets from payware routes. I only found out about the KHS and GE Gantry Tools just now.

Of course i will wait for DTG to possibly fix these Gantry Tools but in the mean time, if anyone could point me to a good working Gantry Tool *now* i would highly appreciate it.

Thanks a lot on forehand ! 8)

cheers,
jan

Hello Jan

It seems that somewhere within the core software of the sim the height for the catenary is coded in, as there is nothing in any of the config files which seems to point to height at all. This means that until DTG patch whatever the recent issue is, it seems that ALL of the gantry tools will be out of position and so it is best to delay all gantry work until such a time that the fix has between issued. Hope this helps.

Hello!
I'm Swedish route builders and have exactly the same problem as you. This happened after the update. I use newsGER:s catenarys. (Google translaters)

The following is from the Readme that accompanies my OHLE kit:

The default track gantry blueprint is set to rail height and because of this the gantries have an inbuilt vertical offset.

When I built the original kit four years ago it caused me a problem, but, with the aid of the then RailSimulator staff the problem was solved. I can only assume some bright spark at DTG has changed this.

Thanks, Matthew ! The thing is though that the Italian gantry tool i am currently testing places the poles perfectly on the ground:

Here's the initial wire placement :

And here after adjustment :

I am using 0.1 now as offset but it i might find a better number so only height adjustment will be needed.

It's just the pantographs of the Class 395 and ACS64 that take the wires for granted and go about their own business, the rest of the Eloks i tried have their panto's right
up where they should be:

Although i like this Italian gantry set very much i will wait for DTG to wire things up correctly.

Thanks again for your input ! 8)

Thank you, Swen ! Looks wonderful and the tool works great ! 8)

Still a problem with my track setup though... For most of my track i have used the default/standard double track, that is clearly not the standard that you have used to setup your gantry tool.

And of course a good thing too because the standard double track lays too close together. I stumbled over your beautiful Da, Dm and EL12 elocs (Thank you! Brings back nice memories when i had the HO Märklin Da ! :) ) and the sides touch eachother when they pass. No problem, i just use one at the time.

Pity i can't use your gantry tool but it does look and works fantastic !

Thanks again! 8)

So, it begs the question. If Swen's own tool is working okay, what did DTG change about the others? Surely that means it isn't a core issue with the software if this gantry tool is able to work fine?

DTG emailed me saying that they are aware of the issue and are trying to resolve it, in the mean time they are closing my case.

has anyone else here had this reply from them?
