Post by johnmckenzie »

Can anyone confirm if the new DTG Class 20 is driveable with the cab controls from both driving positions or just the cab-forward position? Thanks!!

Hi John,

Yes you can drive using controls from Cab forward and Nose forward positions (both positions) and I would also like to say many thanks to DTG for a 'freebie' Class 20, as I had previously bought the original Class 20 through Steam, well chuffed.

Oh dear.

Well I'm pleased I've not paid any money for this, it's worse than the original. Far too much reverb on the sounds so it's awful at high revs, no track running sounds and if you switch the wipers on and then off you still hear them squeaking as if they were on and I found that the brake continues clicking when you release it. Well done DTG!!!!

Things like that should be corrected if pointed out by the Beta Testing Team before release (always being thanked on the last page of the manauls). Same goes for telling people to uninstall previous version first, that should have been a test case to see what can happen. Anyway, JMHO.

Except that you can't uninstall Steam DLC, of course...

Firstly, I must be missing something here in regard to the nose forward driving that folk have said is useable. Does this have to be specially set up in the editor? Sure, the actual controls, brake, throttle etc on the nose-end driving position are animated but the camera position has you staring straight into the bulkhead with no view at all of the line ahead. Makes driving a tab difficult in my humble opinion.

Secondly, the sounds are basic and pretty poor overall, even in comparison to the original RSC 20 let alone JT's offering. There's also a persistent, intermittent soft whistle, like somebody breathing through a gap in their teeth, that grates on the nerves.

Thirdly, on starting a scenario for some reason the slow speed system enable and disables itself and, more importantly the brakes are off, which makes for a nasty surprise in any scenario starting on a gradient.

Perhaps the beta-test version has been distributed instead of the final one, because these are all things that should have been identified and corrected prior to release.

I could go on but, frankly this is a poor offering from DTG, perhaps the worst yet. If I'd paid for this then I'd be irate, rightly, and even as a freebie it's going to go unused over the original version, which at least featured a selection of liveries and both styles of front end.

Hi, may I ask if this is a brand new model,or is it from a previous developers collection that was acquired, by DTG?

Please disregard my comment above about uninstalling first. That was a delayed response to a comment in another thread about the JT version also released today. With non-Steam products you can uninstall prior to installing an update. I'm pretty sure the Steam process takes care of that automatically.
