Which One?

Since this forum has provided me TONS of help, and advice, I'll ask another question. I need to buy another route. US only - I am not a fan of electric locomotives (why I said US Only), because to my knowledge, RailDriver doesn't work with them, and I am a user of the RailDriver wherever possible. I have Stevens Pass (which I LOVE) and Horseshoe Curve, Portland and Pacific Surfliner. I "think" I have narrowed it down to "Canadian Mountain, Marias Pass, Cajun Pass, Sherman Hill, or Ohio Steel 2. So IF anyone has a feeling one way or the other, please let me know your thoughts. I was almost definite on Canadian Mountain ( I like Career Scenarios), but I read some "bad" stuff about things not working in it. I do know that Ohio Steel 2 has no career scenarios, but it offers a ton of scenarios for the money - I think.

So if you have the time, and would be kind enough to offer your thoughts, I would much appreciate it. Thanks in advance.

Depends on what you like doing. If you like driving long trains then Canadian Mountain, Sherman hill or Marias Pass are the ones to get. I think Marias Pass is the better route followed by Sherman hill. If you like to do lots of shunting then Ohio Steel is the route to get.

I have Cajon Pass because it came with TS2012 and I like the route because it has fast stretches along with the slower parts over the pass itself.

If you have any Passenger Equipment Cajon would give you a run out.

I keep hearing about this "sale" thing with Steam. Admittedly, I have only been involved with TS for 8 weeks. I started in mid-January. I know there is a Christmas sale at Steam, but I am unaware of any others. Is it "anticipated" or "expected" that they have a Spring or Summer or Memorial Day - or 4th of July - or whatever sale? I just don't know what to expect, or even to what magnitude. Is it a case of 2 for one, or massive discounts or 10% off - or whatever? I realize you guys don't have crystal balls, and may not know exactly what is coming, but if you could give me some idea of what to expect or when, it would be appreciated.

There were three periods of the year where you had at least 50% off the entire Steam catalogue. I say "were" because developers / publishers whose products are on Steam via Steamworks can now set sale prices themselves, as and whenever they like with NO interference from Steam. So items can be discounted whenever now, and at any percentage off!

You can currently configure these types of discounts for your title:
Weeklong Deals - If you wish to participate in an upcoming weeklong deal, you can select from the upcoming promotions, up to two months ahead of time. You will then just need to enter your desired discount percentage.
Custom Discount - You can also configure your own custom discount amount and date, up to two months in advance to align with special events like a major update or the anniversary of your game's release. You will be asked to enter in the dates it should run, up to a two-week maximum, and the percentage to discount by.
Q: How are discounts approved?
A: For Curated Promotions, Valve will come to you with an idea for your approval if we think your title is a good fit for one of these promotions.
For Self-Serve Promotions, once you set up your discount using our Discount tool, then your game will automatically go on sale at the date and time you specified.
Q: How often can I discount my game?
A: Discounts must be spaced at least 2 months apart.

However for completeness the main sale periods are usually Christmas / New Year, Summer and Thanksgiving / Black Friday weekend.

Good evening
One US Route I would not recommend is Ohio Steel
As it uses predominantly default assets and things have moved on in my opinion
I purchased Ohio Steel 2 in the sale and was glad I had done so
I would have been extremely disappointed had I paid full price for it
There are far better routes out there which have raised the bar

Remember as well you get the bundle packs on steam too and these offer good value for money. They are also usually in the sales too and offer even better value.
