Passengers buried in platforms

Post by ashgray »

I've noticed that some of my older routes such as The Oban Line and East Somerset Railway, since the advent of RS2014, now have the would-be passengers walking inside the platforms at stations, rather than walking on the platform surfaces. :o With the Oban route, station passengers are only visible from the knees up, and on the East Somerset Railway, they're buried in the platforms up to their necks! The effect is a little like the 80's sci-fi movie "The Philadelphia Experiment"!

Anyone have any suggestions how to fix this please?

Thanks Juanillo

From the linked thread:

Sounds good but does anyone know how this procedure is done?

Ash,
if I remember it correctly, the solution was along the lines described in this topic -

http://forums.uktrainsim.com/viewtopic. ... 5&t=134828

though I have to say that this is not the topic I was expecting to find in my search (my memory is not as young as it was). I've not yet tried it myself as I don't currently have a working RW setup, but hopefully it will help you ...

Thanks, that looks to be just what I was looking for.

Haven't figured out how to accomplish any of it yet as I have no building or asset editing experience, but I'll give it a go.

Any further developments/findings on this? I tried the UKSoutheast route tonight and it was just a sea of heads at platforms :x Has completed ruined what was one of my favourite free routes. This is the single worst mess-up of TS2014 and RSC just aren't doing anything about it.

You've been to their office and watched what they're doing?
Whilst the "cut the platform near the end" is a fine work around and wouldn't take you that long to do on your favourite route(s) I agree it's not a complete fix; but for all we know fixing it *properly* may be more involved than we imagine as a change to one thing often results in undesirable effects in another.

No. Have you? What a bizzare response.

Having to go into the editor and alter assets manually, only to have them altered back the next time steam does an upload, is no "fix" at all.

They broke it. Up to them to put things right. They've had months now to acknowledge it, let alone fix it and they've done what exactly?

Nothing bizarre about it at all---none of us knows exactly what RSC are doing, intend to do, or thinking of maybe doing if they feel like it.

We agree on something then.

Hi,

I've looked at the threads, but can't work out how to 'cut' the platforms as described. I tried on UKSoutheast, but the platform seems to be one asset i.e. I can't separate the ramps I can only move the whole platform. Could somebody please explain in basic terms :) ?

This is very disappointing news, I have not updated to 2014 yet because of problems like this one which is really anoying as there are some routes I would like to buy.
I appreciate there might be a workaround but if anyone thinks I'm going to edit every station on all the routes with the problem only to have it reversed when I go on line they have another think coming, it's bad enough having to do it with SSS, ( but for the good sound, worth it ! )

Wake up RSC your letting us all down.

Cheers

John, whilst it's a pain to edit things this is not an issue with every platform at every station on every route.
If you're having edits reversed just by going on line you only have to configure Steam not to keep the game updated automatically.

Should we not expect a Fix from DTG rather than having to Fix everything ourselves?

The answer is: DTG maybe fix it the next century.
