Lame sounds are the killer blow for me, no deal and I won't be buying this until the sounds are improved. High quality and realism of sound is absolutely essential to me and a lack of attention in this area has been the Achilles Heel of many an RSC product and is the first thing I now look for in reviews of their rolling stock. Anyone notice the DVT has no horn, it only comes from the locomotive? I doubt this is the case in real life?

the DVT does have a horn. In fact, it also sounds different from the class 91 horn.

I've just been driving the DVT and the horn is absolutely working just fine, in fact with nicely and subtly different sounds to the 91 loco.
Why are people so quick to criticise with words like 'limp' or 'lame'? The 91 sounds very much like a 91 to me.

I've managed to finally figure out where the ruddy 91 sounds are linked to and have replaced most of them with the class 90 bar the bogie sounds, what I will probably have to do is rename the bogie sounds from the class 90 and pop them into the folder to get them to work the way I want. The actual bogie flang and other interesting sounds are fine, more just the clunk you hear over the railjoints, its not to much different the the EMU railjoint sounds off Brighton route at the moment.
I've actually reverted the horn change after consulting some reference material as they are correct, though the DVTs horn loop does need readjustment as it cuts off to early and doesn't loop quite right.
I have to say though whoever works on the final bin and proxy files for the sounds of DTG addons really does need to stop with the scattering of files in loads of folders, its completely all over and not even in the usual format. You don't have for example a class 91 Sound.bin but class 91 underframe.bin which would normally be the class 91 sound.bin file. Then you have sound split into exterior and cab which you don't really need to have in seperate folders and 3 sets of bogie bins in one folder and another bogies file in the main folder, not to mention for some reason a class 43 sound folder.
Also since the driving vigilence system doesn't have a notification you can't for example do a direct copy of the 90s cab bins as you'll just emergency break without any sound reference to the driver vigilence warning going off. Haven't quite figured out which line I need to edit in the 90 files for that to work correctly as was replacing the cab bins to have the throttle with sound on the lever.
Oh well, figured most of it out and the 91 having the 90s sounds make its alot more audioably enjoyable to the ears.
In regards to a earlier comment about slow acceleration gain. I found it is slow to gain speed after 115mph if you have the cruise control on, however manual throttle control had me overspeeding to 126mph on a 1:304 uphill. Also for whatever reason the 91 is more happy accelerating from the front than pushing the loco load up to the higher speeds.
My only critism on the 225 sets performance would be its braking power when driving from the DVT end seems weaker than you would in the 91, but this maybe prototypical as the 91 has both loco and the main brake while the DVT just has the main brake option according to the HUD controls.

Excuse me, but as a long time patron of RSC I've seldom voiced my opinion publicly and have on more than a couple of occasions thought the blanket criticism they so often receive unwarranted. I had also noticed a performance difference, as I was travelling without cruise control and easily got up to 125. But after using cruise control, the speed stuck after about 114.

On the Class 90 it is 'Ctrl+R - DSD viligance ON/OFF'.

For disclosure, I am affiliated with a third party developer however, I do not know anything about any future releases unless I'm working on them and even then, I'd be breaking years worth of built up trust to say anything about it

Just purchased and ran one of the scenarios into KX requiring the additional stop at Stevenage. Looks very good, sounds OK, and I like the different type of passenger view (not that I use that one much). However, it's fatally flawed for me, as one daren't leave the driver's view to look around in case the vigilance alarm cuts in (which it does every minute of the journey) and applies the emergency brakes without one noticing - it doesn't operate the visual alarm and there's no audible alarm if you're outside the cab, so unless you happen to be in the cab, you wouldn't be aware of the need to cancel the alert.
Let's hope this anomaly gets fixed, as I cannot find a workaround for it in the manual.
