RW tools upgrade problem

Post by casrtt »

I upgraded RW tools to the latest version by using the patch update. I then got the missing mwgfxvb.dll error, so I decided to install the full package which has
an installation file. This now places RW-tools outside of the programs files under Rail Utilities and has not picked up my licence details.
Copied over the licence file from my old version and I now need to enter my name each time I use RW-tools. How can I get the programme to save my details and not
prompt each time it is used.

The Rail Utilities address name (not in the Program Files) is now the normal location for RW-Tools & i had the same problem registering my copy until i realized i hadn't ticked the "remember me" box on the first splash screen.

This may not be related to your problem but it worked for me.

Thanks for the reply.
I do not get a remember me box to tick. Just a registration box to enter your name. The only box to tick is the don't show this again in the about RW-tools screen.

Yes sorry casrtt i think it was the "don't show this again in the about RW-tools screen." i was thinking of which indeed won't work.

Personally i did completely re-install RW-Tools recently & to install it i ran the RW_Tools_Full.zip then i re-downloaded my licence from my saved emails, extracted the file then pasted that into my C:\Rail Utilities\RW-Tools folder then registered my name.

After that i downloaded the RW_Tools5055.zip patch & after extraction i pasted the contents into my C:\Rail Utilities\RW-Tools folder.

Maybe a fresh install might help you here & make sure your there are no remnants of RW-Tools in your old C:\program files (x86) folder.

I had the same problem. Running RW_Tools.exe as administrator solved it for me.

Hi,

RW_Tools no longer uses a license file, it continued to use the old license file if you updated the program, but moving it to a different location or PC or operating system renders the license file out of date.

Email me direct with your full name and I will send you the license key which is now used. Send it to rwtools at live dot com dot au
and I will fix things for you. Mention this post in your email. (Note my electric will be off all day today, so response might take a little while).

If you had a previously working version of RW_Tools, then all of the .ocx files must have been registered, so this seems strange, I would suggest you download the latest FULL version and install it into the same folder as before, then download the latest update patch and just copy all of the contents into the RW_Tools folder overwriting as necessary.

The following might help:-
This happens if you did not install the Full version of the RW_Tools installation package as Administrator - To fix this, download the full installation package from my site, unzip it into a temporary folder, and right-click on the installation program which will be something like Inst_RW_Tools5049.exe and select 'Run as administrator' from the drop-down list. This will correctly install the required files.
