Adding a stopping point

Post by delsutton »

Hi

I'm writing a scenario where I'd like to trigger a message as a certain place on the track is passed.

I've gone into Track Infrastructure >> Stopping Point and placed it on the track, noted the name (even changed it) but nothing shows up in the list of places when I add a stopping point for the player. I'm obviously doing something fundamentally wrong but can't for the life of me see what that is. Anyone able to point me in the right direction?

Many thanks

Hi,
Do you want a message stopping at a particular point or as you pass over a certain point?
If you want a message to appear as you pass over a particular point on the track create a 'Marker - Destination' from the Track Infrastructure menu, name it and save it. When you go into Timetable View edit your trains path to include a 'Stop at Destinations instruction' and set this for the new marker you just created. If you want to stop and have a message appear add this to the Display Message box. If you simply want a message to appear as you pass over this point set a value in the Speed box (set at 0 mph by default) above the Display Message box.

Clear as Mud?

Easier to do than to write how to do methinks - hope you can follow this..

Or,
If you have created a 'stopping point' and saved the change to the scenario the stopping point should appear in the Set Destination drop down in Timetable view. Just add your message to the 'Display Message ' box
Good Luck,

OK thanks. I can create and use a 'Marker - Destination' and that all works fine, but if I set a "stopping point" even if I save the scenario it doesn't appear in the drop down for some reason.

A stopping point has to be part of an already placed marker. For example A platform marker with multiple stopping points along it at different places. If a stopping point is placed without being ontop of a marker it won't show up at all.

So you'l have to place a siding/destination/platform marker then put your stopping marker on top of it.
