Sound Files for Class 28

Post by spionkop »

I've downloaded and installed The Condor activity for Thames - Trent route. I also downloaded the two sound files and the cab file. I managed to install the cab files after a small hiccup but I'm having trouble with the sound files. As far as I can see I've installed them as per instructions but am getting error when running the activity.

These are errors that come up:

Failed to find SMS file
file: ""\""\common.sound\27_27.snd\gp38eng.sms (comes up twice)

Failed to find SMS file
file: C47eng.sms

Failed to find SMS file
file: ""\""\common.sound\26_27snd\gp38cab.sms

When I looked in the eng file of the loco thes files are in it so I don't understand why it can't find them. It also mentions then in Common Sound, Class26-27 file.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Steve

Hi Steve,
If the Class 28 you're trying to run is from files 31775, 31776 or 31777, the sound lines specify common.sound\26_27.snd\ as the folders which contain the gp38 sms files - Note the underline character and full stop.

The two lines you've quoted : file: ""\""\common.sound\27_27.snd\gp38eng.sms (comes up twice) and file: ""\""\common.sound\26_27snd\gp38cab.sms both contain errors - have you tried to amend these lines in the eng file?
The first line should be : Sound ("..\\..\\common.sound\\26_27.snd\\gp38eng.sms" ) and the second Sound ("..\\..\\common.sound\\26_27.snd\\gp38cab.sms")

I can't help with the C47eng.sms file, but it looks as if the sounds for that loco should be in the SOUND folder within the loco's folder.

Cheers,
Ged

Hi Steve
Its nearly always a typo error .... so worth double checking (unless you have Conbuilder)

I notice you have typed '27_27' .... but also '26_27'

Cheers

Hi Steve,

The class 47 sound error could be for a class 47 used in the activity,it might be a AI locomotive, depending which 47 it is,it might need one of MT's Class 47 sounds,if you haven't got one of theirs they usualy come with the GE or Scottish Capitals Express, there is a set of class 47 sounds in the library, but you will need to alter the class 47 eng.file.

Hi Ged, Mike & Bob,

Thanks for your replies. Yes I did make a mistake, I meant to put 26-27. I have got those files and installed them. In the eng file of the class 28 the lines you mentioned are exactly what you put in green.

Mike, I've also got the sound file 12258 installed for the Thames_Trent_Class_45 loco and that is working OK.

Hi Ged, Mike & Bob

Sorry I've been a while letting you know how I've got on with the problem. It now works perfectly.
I decided to uninstall it all and carefully reinstall the sound file again. What I did previously was to make a folder in common sound instead of letting the installation process put one in. So this time when it asked me about making the folder I just said yes. So everything is running fine now.
