E-Brake triggering between two signals.

Hey all-

So I am not EXTREMELY new to this, but I don't know much.

I am running the GARL expansion, with a route going TO the airport. I clear all the insane signals, and track changes coming out of the main station, and start my journey. Every single signal is red, and as I start to stop, turns to yellow, gives me the AWS, I clear it, no biggie. I've done that a million times. However, the problem lies on 1 signal in particular. Just ran this scenario. Didn't have your problem, however the brake did apply itself as I was coming to a stop at the airport station! I'd saved the journey at Gilmour St, so I resumed the second time it didn't happen. Very strange. Sorry I couldn't be of more help, but to answer your question, I don't think you're doing anything wrong!

Notice where the emergency brake was tripped? On the approach to the red, you passed over TPWS magnets in the centre of the track, these should not be passed in excess of 15mph, you were doing over 20mph.

Yes TPWS Overspeed will have been the cause. It is prototypical in real life as to prevent trains not stopping at buffers and reds.

Well you learn something new every day! That would explain the brakes applying on my approach to the station where I was doing just under the 25 limit. Serves us right for not reading the manual which Thomson so kindly supplied!!

"There are two pairs of grids mounted between the running rails. Both pairs consist of an
'arming' and a 'trigger' grid. The first pair, the Overspeed Sensor (OSS), are positioned on
approach to the protected signal. The other pair of grids are mounted back to back at the
signal location, and these form the Train Stop Sensor (TSS).

The emergency train brakes are automatically applied if a train passes over an active
Overspeed Sensor faster than a predetermined speed (in the GARL simulation this preset
speed is between 20 and 25 M.P.H. dependent on line speed and location). The brakes are
also automatically applied if a train passes over an active Train Stop Sensor at any speed, as
the signal it is protecting must be at danger.

After passing a signal displaying a caution aspect (single yellow) it is advisable to reduce
your train speed to anticipate the approach to the next signal. It may be at danger and
therefore the TPWS Overspeed Sensor will be active and will trip an emergency stop if your
train speed is greater than the preset approach speed when you pass over it.

TPWS “Mini OSS” grids are also installed at terminus stations (Glasgow Central and Glasgow
International Airport). These grids are positioned approx 50m prior to the buffer stops and
are preset to 12 M.P.H. Your train must be traveling at less than 12 M.P.H. when passing over
these grids when arriving in to these platforms."

Assume that, like a real driver, you just have to learn the route to know where these are, as it appears they are not generally linked to the track speed limits. Keeps us on our toes I suppose!

Are these linked to the "Brake on Overspeed" gameplay option? Or is that more general, and not linked to TPWS?
