Help with installation of ECMLS
I have just bought the King's Cross-Peterborough route.Thought it had installed correctly. The route number 29 showed in the Routes folder and ECMLS showed in the Asset folders.Went to play the route and nothing showed.
Went back to the folders and discovered there was nothing in them apart from - in the Routes folder 2 AP files. One was entitled MainContent.ap and the other ECMLSClass321Pack02Scenarios.ap.
In the ECMLS Assets folder I found - ECMLSAssets.ap
I have not come across these ap files before as all purchases made through Steam have always automatically installed ready to play.
By chance I discovered that these ap files could be opened with 7-zip.Lo and behold there were all the files that were missing. So I manually loaded them I think in the right places.Went to play the game and again nothing showed. Checked with RW Tools and the route was showing with all its scenarios.
Can someone please help me as to how to get this route to function, have I missed something crucial?Help would be much appreciated.

Re: Help with installation of ECMLS
Hello
The EXACT same thing is happening to me. I've posted about it here: http://forums.uktrainsim.com/viewtopic. ... &start=180
I contacted RSC last week but no response as of yet. I've attempted blumin' everything: -
-Deleted content to re-download/install the route
- unziped using 7 zip
- 'unpacked' using RW tools 5
- verified integrity countless times
- cleared cache countless times.
I'm also completely out of ideas. L2F & Ham-Hann are 2 other victims, interesting GEML works OK. The last resort would be to re-install TS14 from scratch but this would take ages as I've got hundreds of DLC, RSC, just trains, UKTS stuff etc etc so I'm hoping RSC come back to me with a silver bullet but I'm not holding my breathe. My advice would be to contact them as well, if enough people do this with the same problem, they'll have to do something about it. I've spent £90 on content I cannot use.
Good luck in finding the answer and let me know if you find one!
Kind regards
Montylowe

Re: Help with installation of ECMLS
The only things you should find in those folders are what you already have, the .ap files. This is how the new content works.
I also believe that newer routes only come with Career Scenarios, so if you are looking anywhere other than Quick Drive or Career then it won't show because there is nothing to show.
If you just want to know it is there and installed correctly then click the 'Build' menu and look in the list of available routes.
I hope this helps

Re: Help with installation of ECMLS
The route installs correctly, all the scenario's are there and indeed it is listed in the list of routes available to edit in the 'build' menu. However whenever you load a scenario or 'edit' the route, everything has gone apart from a few milk bottles and markers. It's like it's missing absolutely everything, however everything looks OK in the folders. It's really puzzling, especially after it tricked it into re-downloading again.

Re: Help with installation of ECMLS
montylowe2, have you used the routine in RW Tools to make all TS2014 files read/write?
I'm not saying it'll cure your issue but would at least remove one possible reason: ie; your user account not having the rights to use the files in the affected routes.

Where were you looking? The supplied scenarios are 'Career Mode' so if you didn't look in that section.....dumpadillo wrote:Went to play the route and nothing showed

Re: Help with installation of ECMLS
Thank you all for replying,I have it working fine now.I didn't realise that everything had gone over to Career Mode.
Does this mean that thre are no longer automatic installations as far as Steam are concerned?
It is a great route so detailed.

Re: Help with installation of ECMLS
The installation is automatic; you don't need to unpack the .ap files unless you need to edit a part of the route or a scenario. Do a forum search for ".ap packages" and you'll find a handful of threads about them--not much, but we don't know everything about them yet.
EDIT: that should be "edit with RW Tools"---the .ap doesn't need unpacking to use the in-game editors.

Re: Help with installation of ECMLS
gptech,
Nope, no track in 9 view 2D tackmap.
I still haven't received a response from RSC after a week, which isn't brilliant customer service really. It's a shame they don't put as much effort into support as they do in Christmas tree routes.

Re: Help with installation of ECMLS
Do you still have the contents of the .ap archive extracted?

Re: Help with installation of ECMLS
I've just got the 2 .ap files in the route folder now. It didn't work when I extracted the files as per a pre TS14 installation.

Re: Help with installation of ECMLS
Use RW Tools to extract the contents of the .ap archive, and give it a quick 'once over' to see if that 'sees' the asset files.
As you can run GEML which is a pretty resource hungry route (according to the thread about it) it's unlikely you have a harware problem, but for the sake of completeness what are your system specs?

Re: Help with installation of ECMLS
GPtech,
I've unpacked the .ap files in RW tools and everything seems to be there 6336 items in total. Although the files are always described as 'not unpacked' in the dialogue box in RW tools (to window you see when you search for all .ap files in RW tools) . The only way to get the files physically into the folder unzipped/unpacked is to use 7 zip (or so it appears) which I have already done to no success. It's worth noting this shouldn't really need to be done given how .ap files are supposed to 'work'. Thanks for trying help mate, you've given 500% more suggestions than RSC support so far. Although I'm a lot more patient these days with things like this, it's still frustrating not be able to get the thing to work, it's hard justifying spending so much money on 'just an addon' in the first place.
My PC spec shouldn't be a problem:-
Intel i5 3.30 Ghz
8 gig DDR3
7950 HD 3GIG Radeon
Windows 7 64 bit
It runs ARMA3 at 'very high' settings and runs everything on TS14 maxed out at 1900x1200 res. She's quite a workhorse.
Thanks
Monty
