Goodbye SBHH, Hello REHSW!

Hi, We have had SBHH, the latest incarnation seems to be REHSW, Railworks Exe has stopped working,this error seems to be creeping into my route building world, more and more! as RSC have fixed the number of providers bug? is this a new error, or just a make over for SBHH ?

Reminds me of when Microsoft got rid of the dreaded "Blue Screen of Death" in windows, by making the computer automatically restart before you got a chance to see it (unless the default setting was changed)

Just had one myself and lost about an hours work - yes, I know I should have saved frequently but same old same old as far as I'm concerned (although they are less frequent after updating to 2014)

Hi,thanks for the replies,glad its not just me! terrain painting seems to bring frequent errors,and object placement,also the old bug with copying and pasting lofts is still there,only you get REHSW,NOT SBHH.

Yesterday I installed Win8.1 together with a new PSU. I have now had an unheard of long long session of RW including the editor without the need to clear the cache and without any crash whatsoever!! At the moment it seems 100% stable whereas before it certainly wasn't.

Whether this is because Win8.1 has better memory management than Win7(so I am told) or because it's a nice clean uncluttered install of the OS I know not. Either way RW certainly is less touchy.
I rather suspect the latter. Peoples OS's get so bunged up with junk, malware and overheads over time it's a wonder anything works at all. To be honest I wish I hadn't bothered with Win 8.1, which is horrible. and just reinstalled afresh Win7. I think a lot of folk would benefit from a complete HD format and new Win7 install.

Windows 8.1 manages computer resources much better than windows 7.
That is the main reason that TS2014 work better in Windows 8.1.

Recently getting a lot of these while attempting to drive scenarios, especially on H-H and A-M

And for whatever mysterious reason I don't understand, it almost never manages to write a dump-file either...

I have verified with Steam countless times and the weird thing is, that just about every time it needs to re-acquire between 100 and 120 files. Even if all I did was start TS2014 and change some settings - not playing the actual sim.

Clearing chaches is perhaps a good idea, if I can still find such a button to clear blueprints (or other) caches...

Started today. A couple of lockups and then that message while creating and editing a scenario. I cant remember ever having had an SBHH or similar in 2012 or 2013.

I believe the "Program 'x' has stopped working..." error message is a Windows generated one rather than anything RSC have concocted, though it's possible that RSC changed how errors are reported to 'lose' the SBHH message and we've now a different vague message to try and work with.
Whatever you want to call it, it's obviously hitting some but not others. "....has stopped working" often means a program has tried to do something that the user logged on doesn't have permission to do, so take a few minutes to ensure you still have read/write permissions on your TS files---the upgrade may have reset permissions, particularly if at that time you were logged on as Administrator with elevated permissions.
RW Tools has a nice little routine to do this, but it can be easily done through Windows Explorer: it'd probably be wise to make your user account the creator/owner of at least the Railworks directory, and of course any directories below it.
More a theory than fact, so like all theories it's there to shoot full of holes by testing so feel free
