TS 2014 forum on steam deleted

Post by firetrap1 »

It seems that RSC have deleted every forum topic on the TS2014 steam forum as of 30 October. It is also not letting me post anything new either.

They have taken it over and I guess wanted to start afresh. You should be able to post in the sub forums? Unless they've really stopped it all..

The forum has not been deleted. I have just been reading it.

All the content was apparently purged and some new threads are appearing with heavy moderation pointing people with issues to the official RSC support route. I understand from other sources that a number of people who used to post there are currently not able to but that would be a matter between them and RSC.

The operation of that forum is a matter for RSC and if this thread descends into to an RSC flogging session then it will end up locked or in the bin.
Kindest regards

Yes the TS2014 Steam Community was 'reset'. I would just like to point out that the Railworks-Steam Users' Forums, http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/f ... .php?f=619, is still where its been all along, for anybody that might have forgot that forum still exsists.

I seem able to post things on the community forum. But you only browse most of it now if you are logged into steam via the application or the webpage now. If having issues go via Steam support or RSC support.

Overall it was needing a complete wipe due to how it was going over the past few weeks. Although not sure what really happened over the weekend to get it done though.

Hi,I was looking at that forum last week, i must say i did not see any comments that needed purging, maybe if RSC engaged with there customers, instead of ignoring them, then a lot of the frustration voiced there, could be avoided .
My view is,if a poster writes a comment about the product in question, and no one from the games creators bothers to reply (on what is after all, there own dedicated forum)then problems will ensue,RSC should meet the critism head on!and take it on the chin, not bury there head in the sand,or hide behind a default email message,if you browse some of the other steam game forums, representatives of the companys answer questions, and engage with its customers,no matter how awkward some of the questions may be at times, and adopt a mature attitude, that is very refreshing.
Trainsim is a good product, and brings out a passion in its users,RSC need to tap-in to that passion, not censor or ignore it.

I saw what happened, and believe me it DID need purging. One or two threads went totally nuclear, totally over-the-top. One person in particular 'went postal' and I'd be very surprised if that person still has access to a Steam account. Growler37, it's nothing to do with taking criticism on the chin - what I saw was definitely very inflammatory and almost certainly libellous against many other people on that forum. I was not in the least surprised to bring along the popcorn a couple of hours later to find the whole lot gone.

I would dip into that forum now and again, mostly to try and find anything useful in the way of user reviews and comment on new DLC. I was struck by two things. The level of puerile illiteracy, and the almost total lack of any input or moderation by RSC. It could be argued of course that the former dictated the latter but then RSC don't exactly fall over themselves to interact with their users anywhere else. Which is fair enough and I suppose you have to at least admire their consistency on that front.

Have to say though that I can think of any other company that takes this approach and this latest development only adds to the overall impression that we're dealing with an ivory tower full of delicate doilies who cant cope with anything other than full throated support without having a fit of the vapours and reaching for the blue pencil.

Taking the nuclear option of deleting an entire forum, which let us not forget did contain useful nuggets amidst the dross, on the grounds that a few individuals stepped over the mark in a handful of threads is completely OTT.

I think RSC are right in getting rid of the personal attacks on the steam forums but to wipe the whole lot seems abit of a overkill and just runs the risk of people going to places like Amazon and leaving reviews like don't buy this game because of such a bug and that support is awful who'll delete any comment saying anything is wrong with the game.

:) I'.m glad RSC have done something about the forums, I gave up and withdrew due to the unbelievably nasty and foul attitudes by some contributors - they - if true Rail Sim users, brought shame on the hobby - more on themselves. There can never be an excuse for insulting and gratuitous language and insults on such forums, they must be policed firmly by positively.

I was not aware you needed to register with them?
Do you not log-in with the Steam account required to run this game?

I was referring to the Railworks forum as per the link. Although I am registered with the TS2014 Steam Community I had to register separately for this and have awaited the promised activation email.....which has never been received. So I can log in and view the threads but cannot partake or contact a mod.

Never mind. Probably wouldn't bother anyway.

You have to register to post on the Railworks-Steam Users' Forums, the 'old' forums on Steam, and you can have a different name to your Steam account name.

The Steam Community forums, the 'new' forums, i think RSC only started their one with the TS2013 upgrade, is the forum that you sign in with your Steam account user name and password.

I hope the week long activation wait is not a deliberate ploy on behalf of Steam to run the old forums down. I've read reports about the same thing before this.
