Latest Nvidia drivers including recording

Post by deltic009 »

The latest nVidia drivers, releases yesterday include a feature for owners of 600 and 700 series GPU cards called ShadowPlay. Its a video recording tool that has such little system impact that you can gave it running the whole time and then press a hotkey to capture the PREVIOUS x minutes of gameplay. You can also use it for manual video capture and after testing I am suitably impressed. Tweaked my settings to get 1080P at 60fps playing on WCML-N and with little impact I can record 1080P 60fps video, even with more than one train around.

Great addition for making videos of scenarios etc.

How long did it take your system to scan for games ? I stopped mine doing it after about 15 minutes and because of that a couple of things are not enabled, one being Shadowplay.

Mine scanned pretty quickly and even though it doesn't recognise TS2014 as being something that has shared settings etc etc I was certainly able to record with Shadowplay no problem - I have only used it in full manual but think I am going to find the odd fortuitous passing move or similar would make the previous capture a good feature.

It is still scanning after 40 mins. Might uninstall the new drivers and start afresh. Only have about 6 games on my computer. Sent a complaint to Nvidia.

Mine never stopped scanning :/

Also, if slightly off topic, I have Batman Arkham City, and Steam states that my graphics drivers are not up to date... :-?

Yes. Shadowplay only for the 600 and 700 series. Anyway doesn't really matter as I wouldn't use it.

The usual quick install here, mind you I choose 'Custom' install, tick the "Clean Install box" each time and de-select '3DVision Controller driver', '3DVision Driver', and the 'Geforce Experience' as it's all clutter that I don't need, nor find useful. So basically just install the new PhysX drivers (if applicable) and the main graphics driver itself, took longer to download it and that was only about 1min on my connection :P

Bear on mind that Geforce Experience is required for ShadowPlay if you wanted it.
