Can anyone point me to some good guidelines for creating/locating/editing loco (or other vehicle) numbers?
Specifically, I wish to PLACE the numbers in a different location on the body. I have found references to changing numbers, digit textures etc, but not how to place them (or relocate them) in a specific spot on the bodywork
While writing, I downloaded the Rail Simulator Developer Docs, but they seem to be way out of date, mostly dated 2008. Is there a more up to date version that I am not aware of?

Re: Help with placing loco numbers
Basically , you can't change where the digits are displayed---this is determined in the model itself so you'd need the source files to change this.
However, you can alter the textures of the existing digits to render them invisible (by giving them a completely black Alpha Channel) and add a specific number to the texture(s) of the loco in question but this does mean you lose the dynamic numbering.
Theres an Arriva Trains Wales DMU somewhere in the library, I can't remember whether it's a 150 or a 153, that has been edited to 'hide' the original numbers and a child object to show the numbers in a different location--I'll see if I can track it down so you can have a look at what's what.
EDIT: I think the DMU I was thinking about is
but I may have been mistaken about the numbers being displayed on a child oblect---looks like it's the ATW logo that's re-positioned but it might offer an insight in how to do what you want.

Re: Help with placing loco numbers
Thanks Gary.
Your first point explains why I couldn't find anything! Bummer!
Thanks for the second tip though, I'll delve into it and work it out.
Much appreciated
