Workshop scenarios strange filenames

Post by dean1986 »

I have noticed since TS2014 was released when looking at stock for scenarios from workshop files like this are needed to run the scenario #rtdp{ffc02253-25f0-40a6-9759-2c142c8fff56}. How do I find these files?

Thanks

I haven't had time to look at the workshop recently - but those look like route names to me

Off the top of my head that one is Edinburgh to Glasgow. Not at my computer with Railworks installed, but recognise the end digits from Darrens' (Darpor / DPSimulations) scenery extension.

Inside the "Railworks" folder is a new tool called "NameMyRoute.exe" - If you launch that, it will tell you the name/codes for all your routes
Why couldn't the steam loco sit down? - Because he had a tender behind.

I assume this has been produced by RSC - pity that it can't cope with routes zipped in a .apfile.

ffc02253-25f0-40a6-9759-2c142c8fff56 is indeed Edinburgh-Glasgow, but I'm a little confused as to what you're actually doing.
All downloads from Steam Workshop can only use items available through Steam, so that narrows any searching down a bit and Steam will not download and install a scenario or route for which you're missing items. However, it will download the scenario or route into one of the temporary locations in your Steam folder tree as a .zip archive--this has been mentioned many times to allow those without all the stock for a scenario to be able to download it, manually install and swap things about with RW Tools: is this what you're doing? If so, clarifying a little exactly how you're going about it will help us help you :)

To set the ball rolling, these are the GUIDs and corresponding routes I know of...

00000001-0000-0000-0000-000000000000 - Great Western Mainline (Oxford - Paddington)

00000002-0000-0000-0000-000000000000 - Somerset Dorset Joint Railway (Bath - Templecombe)

00000003-0000-0000-0000-000000000000 - East Coast Mainline (York - Newcastle)

00000011-0000-0000-0000-000000000000 - WCML North

00000015-0000-0000-0000-000000000000 - Portsmouth Direct Line

00000020-0000-0000-0000-000000000000 - Industrial North (Doncaster Works)

00000033-0000-0000-0000-000000002012 - Settle to Carlisle

00000034-a000-0000-0000-000000002012 - London to Brighton

00000034-c000-0000-0000-000000002013 - Kent High Speed (London - Faversham)

00000038-0000-0000-0000-000000002013 - GEML (London Liverpool Street - Ipswich)

1278bca0-e7d3-4d5e-a4c4-780dea632ece - Glasgow Airport Rail Link

13cd4c14-4798-4b9c-8fea-e69409602428 - West of Scotland Lines (The Port Road)

1b99a16b-f5f5-4a5b-bcfc-49e1a60b1470 - Woodhead

6268b042-6154-4ec9-b060-bcc702dd18e3 - Isle of Wight

I thought the OP was simply asking why the workshop has started listing the GUID's in the "Tags" section rather than the straightforward name of the DLC.

For example the latest workshop scenario "Vinnhorst Port Shunter" lists the following tags "Diesel, Ice 2, #ts14, Scenario, Final, De, #rtdp{00000037-0000-0000-0000-000000002013}, Hh, #scnr{9194e414-f2e2-4d43-8e67-2923ef9d4eff}".

Quite how anyone is supposed to be able to see at glance what assets are required to run this particular workshop scenario is beyond me and that, after all, is the whole purpose of the tags in the first place.

Partly yes, but...

If we're to help at all with locating files, whether on a web server or on his own HDD we really do need to know where he's looked, what he's downloaded etc. It does become clearer now you've expanded for him that it (possibly) is from the description on the Workshop download page though....I should stop reading so literally :-?

Probably because when you do unpack the .ap file, and then look at them with 'NameMyRoute.exe' it then displays all of the empty scenario folders that have been left in - at least one route I found has 23 empty scenario folders.

Which all begs the question why didn't RSC just use the route name for the folder containing the route?

Unfortunately, the Steam Workshop is bordering on unusable now. The list that's used to filter required scenarios is not in any sorted order and there are heaps of those codes (mentioned by the OP) in that incredibly long list. I can't find any Class 360 scenarios because that class doesn't appear to be anywhere in the list, but of course this too could be one of the strange code numbers.

For the Class 360 you must check the "Great Eastern Main Line". The class 360 is not sold separately from his route. This applies to all rolling stock that is part of a route.

Well I must be doing something wrong because I could only find 3 workshop scenarios for the GEML :-?

I only found three too. Normally, I'm content with the RSC scenarios but the included GEML scenarios aren't really all that great for this route. Any free scenarios seem to require several other payware locos beyond those I've already bought. Perhaps this is the Big Hint that I need to learn to make my own, but the build options make me want to leave the planet....
