Top Tips screens replaced with my menu images.

Post by Fodda »

With very great thanks to MarleyMan for putting me onto how to do this I've managed to update each of my splash and menu screens to now overwrite the Top Tips screens that get shown during scenario loading.

I've done nothing more than insert the same image into the place so there's no fancy animations or changing images, just a good old fashioned picture of a bunch of trains.

I've updated all my SplashScreen packs to include the new file and complete installation instructions, that's why they've all gone awaiting approval again. They'll be back shortly I hope.

Once again, thanks very much Marleyman for your invaluable instructions on how to get this done.

Look forward to them, just wondering thought, would it be possible to install all of them and somehow every time you start TS2014 you would get a random splash screen ? sort of like a box of chocolates, you never know whats going to get. They are definitely more pleasing to the eye.

Why have the three files (#31742, #31745 & #31746) been removed from the UKTS library?

Traveller, read my first post.

Antony, it may well be possible with a clever little batch file, but that's beyond me.

You could always do as I have done and take one different file from three different packs and use them. I now have the GWR screen when TS2014 is loading, the GWR one behind the menus and the LMS one for scenario loading. Works a treat, gives me a change when I'm playing and looks good.

Is it just me but the Top Tips screens have returned, perhaps because of an update. There does not seem to be any files in the flash folder (as there was before) so cannot now install the UI_Splashscreen file, anyone know how to modify it now?

Yep. RSC have "fixed" the flash anims so I'll have to remake them. There is a work around if you look in the latest Railworks Update thread, but I'll have to repackage everything to make 'em work work from the packages.

Not looked at all myself yet as I'm busy playing with TS2013 with all the goodies working and it takes a little while to swap between, but rumours are that the tunnel occlusion problem is also 90% fixed as well.

Ho hum... No bleedin' TrackIR and then they break my mods as well... Anyone'd think they owned the game. ;) ;) ;)

Thanks for the swift reply Fodda (sorry I don't know your actual name  ), I really hope you will find some time to re-do your packages when you've had your fussy with your TS2013, it was so easy to amend with your help. Many thanks.

As posted by GwillymD in the thread "Another Stupid Change in TS2014":
http://ftp.uktrainsim.com/viewtopic.php ... 40e7452425
. . . the Tips swf files are now in the folder RailWorks\data\scaleform, and now named RSSlideshow.swf. So pending Fodda releasing an amended pack, all you have to do is copy his swf file (that you will still have in the Railworks\data\flash folder) into the Railworks\data\scaleform folder, then rename it RSSlideshow.swf.

Hi Chris,

Tried that, but although the slide show is replaced with Fodda's changing pictures, unfortunately the 'moving' Loading bar that appears along the bottom of the screen when a Scenario loading is now missing, but the Scenario's do load OK. Any ideas?

I hadn't noticed that - my focus was just on the screens. I didn't take any notice of the progress bar anyway.

No ideas - I just passed on the tip, but wouldn't know where to start with changing it, LOL!

But perhaps Fodda can pull the two issues together in an update.

No problem Chris thanks for replying, let's hope Fodda can sort things out when he finds some time.

Hi

I must admit I was not looking for the loading bar myself, agian just looking at the pictures. I have noticed this morning that the Tips screen has been altered again as it now shows a release or future release af an Amtrak route/train, sorry din't take much notice as I am a BR Blue fan. Or am I going mad ?

GAH! Missing loading bar? That'll take a bit more delving again. I'll have a look and see what I can do.

Unfortunately the occlusions "fix" hasn't fixed my added occlusions in the RSC Settle-Carlisle route. The tunnels still glow in that one. :(
