The Germans are good engineers just ask anyone that met a tiger tank. They also seem to be pretty good at building trains and quite afew of them have made it into this train game.

German steamers are wonderful, plus I'm half German and your remark is short sighted, but since you're a young'un I'll let it pass, we all make mistakes.

Or maybe the OP should save his dollars for a trip to Germany in the future!

I went to Cologne a couple of years back, a beautiful city - the people were ever so friendly, one lovely lass in particular in the restaurant by the river (but ahem, that's another story.....)

Also, travelling on the ICE3 - a marvelous experience - shame I couldn't get to travel on the locals and the double deckers but there's always next year to return - looking to do Munich next.

Now that is a beautiful city. Definitely recommended during Fasching. :D

Many years ago I spent 10 days in Germany with an old friend who had been in the forces and married a German girl---no idea if she had ever been in a restaurant by a river though :)
and I can confirm Cologne is one of the nicest places to visit.

Alright, I see that the subject has changed a bit. Well, even if it hasn't, I have to explain a possible reason: the British were indeed our enemies in the Revolutionary War and the War of 1812, but that was years ago. Ok, so were World Wars 1 and 2, but one of the books I read in world history class mentioned that some people in Germany still follow Hitler's ideas.

Now that we got that out of the way, I was actually planning on getting either the Falmouth branch or the Woodhead line, but now I'm wondering if Western Lines of Scotland is worth getting.

What do you guys think?

Woodhead is certainly a cracking route, there are also quite a number of freeware additions tailored for it, such as

File ID: 30129 Date: 09 Dec 2012 - 1719 Downloads

and

If you like shorter runs, and interesting shunting then Falmouth is a good choice and can be 'doubled up' by getting

which takes it back a few years as a separate version.

WLOS is a brilliant route and recommend it fully. Also off topic - That is the same across the world not just Germany.

Chris
Rising Storm -Name is in the credits :D - To Do scenario, where you go along at 50mph in a Pendo? Who would play it?
Anyone want to help in Play Testing future Rising Storm/ Ro2 Maps? If so please PM me.

Yes indeed, however you can't condemn a whole race because of the foolishness of a few! :) I can tell you the majority of Germans are appalled at these minority neo- fascist people. Now, back on topic, the WLOS is a fantastic route and you will have hours of fun with it.

Plenty of present day US Nazis. A quick Google of US Nazis brings up thousands of hate pages. There are whole towns of US citizens flying swastikas and preaching Aryan race hatred right now. Far more than in the whole of Europe combined.

Please cask your teachers about it all.

But on with the point. Falmouth is superb, but quite short. Getting it will allow you to download the earlier GWR Falmouth version from here in the file library. Western Scotland looks pretty good as well, but I'd opt for the Woodhead. Great steam engines, the best electric trains in TS, and oodles of great scenarios from here in the library.

Well, to be quite honest, there are American following the idea's of hitler as well as British people, you will find people all across the globe that follows the idea´s of hitler, it doesn't give you a credible reason to hate every nationality.
The fact is, you do NOT have a credible reason to hate anyone unless someone has done something to you directly, and even then it's only the individual in particular and not an entire ethnic group.
If more people realized how daft it actually is to base their opinions based on that of another individual or a book, instead of actually basing it on first hand experiences the world would be a better place.

Anyhow, for a route I would most likely recommend WCML, or if you are after a fantastically well made locomotive, I would recommend the GP20 by Reppo.
These are the items that are extremely well made and I would not hesitate to buy any product by those producers again.

You have a good point.

But I already have WCML. Since most people seem to think WLOS is better, that's what I'll choose, alongside the jinty.

However, I still want this thread open, just incase I can't decide again.

A very short sighted view.
A very short sighted view perhaps but when I was young I held much the same feelings.

So I can understand the sentiment.

Yet right now the German trains are amongst my favourites so it is definitely possible to outgrow such childhood sins ;-)

Cheers,
