Re: Blueprint Editor 2.0

Hi,

I like Blueprint Editor 2, as supplied with TS2014, but how do I write a Blueprint for a Decal? In earlier editor I would right click on .ace file and select Decal from drop-down menu. Job Done!

Maybe I am missing something, or maybe it's old age creeping in, but I don't seem able to find this function in TS2014 Blueprint Editor.

Any help on how to make a decal for TS2014 would be appreciated.

Right click on the FOLDER that contains the Texture Folder that the .ace file is in :D

Hi Geoff,

Thanks for the info, which, if my memory serves me correctly, is the way I did it prior to TS2014.

I have tried your suggested way and doesn't work for me. Oh dear! - what am I doing wrong, or has anybody else experienced this problem with TS2014 Blueprint Editor. OK with .IGS files - only .ACE files giving problem.

Hi Ian

With a scenery decal you find the blueprint list as per my previous instruction, create a new Scenery Decal Blueprint and in the bottom field point the blueprint to your .ace file (right click on .ace file and chose copy path and then control +V in that ID field. You need to complete the other fields in the Blueprint as appropriate and then export or preview. It should be quite straightforward although there may be some problems if you are using Windows XP.

Sorry if I am being a bit vague but I do not have an installed TS3014 to hand but I think my description is near enough.

Hi Geoff,

Thanks, yet again - still couldn't get it to work. However with further experimentation I have found the following procedure works:

1. Open Editor and Right Click on folder containing ACE file.
2. From drop-down menu select 'Add'.
3. Select 'New Item'.
4. From the 'Add New Item List' that appears, select in the right-hand column 'Blueprint'.
5. A new left-hand column appears; scroll down and select 'Decal Blueprint'.
6. Give the Decal a Name, a Category etc and in the Texture ID field point to the ACE file.

This works for me. A lot of time could have been saved if a Train Simulator 2014 Creator Manual had been available. All-in-all I find the TS2014 far easier to use than previous Editors and hope that the above procedure, that I have discovered, with the help of Geoff, will help others.

Hi Ian

I was trying to point you in the right direction from memory but you found the way in the end. The point I was tying to make about the folders is that you could end up with the blueprint .xml file in the Texture folder whereas it is possibly better one tier up in the folder hierarchy with other .xml files, although I don't think TS2014 minds too much where the files are stored as long as they know where to find each other.

Hi Geoff,

I take your point and yes, I did end up in the Texture folder, but it still appeared in the game.

Thanks again for your pointers which sent me in the right direction.

Did anyone manage to fix the error of BE2 crashing upon clicking on it? Tried all that's been suggested without success :(

Been playing around and found that deleting the BlueprintSchema.xml file means I can run it without it crashing, However as soon as I launch Railworks to create it, It doesn't start at all.

Anyone have any ideas?
