Hall with SSS update

Post by dlljones »

Help please!

I just want to know how to get the Hall going in front of say a rake of Mk1's. I'm a lazy and impatient guy and so have the automatic firemen enabled but in expert mode. When I drive the Hall as a light engine with Regulator on 100 and Reverser on 75 these settings gets her going (with sparks flying!). I then reduce accordingly and all is well. But when I attach her to a rake of say 5 Mk1's she won't budge on these settings or other combinations I've tried.

Therefore I'm doing something wrong (or not doing something I'm supposed to do!) but what exactly I don't know. Can someone tell me (politely and avoiding SpecSavers etc!!) what I need to do please? I tried the Hall without the SSS pack and I have no problem. I don't think it's a brakes issue as a check on the coupling icon on the hud shows all the brakes are off.

Thanks

Llew

PS I wish they'd rename this thread to just "Help" as I've been around from the start so I'm a bit embarrassed to be thought of as a beginner!!!!

Hi, the coupling view only shows the handbrakes. With the soundpack installed, you also need to use the small ejector (J key) to pull the brakes off - and they need to come off to 25 not 21 psi! :) When the loco is moving, the loco vacuum pump pulls the brakes off but you need the small ejector to pull them off from standstill.

Hope this helps

Hello Mark

Thanks very much for your reply.

I'm pleased to say that it work fine now that I've used the small ejector.

I really must learn to drive one of these beauties properly - and should have by now considering that both my grandfathers were loco drivers!

Thanks again

Best wishes
