Suggestions - New Graphics Card

I am exploring the possibility of upgrading my current nVidea 560GTX Ti card.
Possibilities:
1. Gtx 670
2. Gtx 680
3. Gtx 770
Any suggestions as to which would be the best considering the new and upcoming TS 2014?

All in all ive went from SATA1 to SATA3,USB2-USB3,2gig560gtx to a 4gig760GTX,a very startling differance in FPS,it hits the sweet spot

There are shedloads of cheap (sub £200) GTX670 deals going about at the moment, I'd consider looking at one of those. Using one now and handles TS like a beaut. In terms of the GTX680, for the extra cost over a 670, I'd go for a 670. It should last you for ages. However, the 770... do you really feel like spending 300 notes plus?

And just to point out, the 760 and the 670 are essentially the same card, but with different prices.

Does the RAM on the card make a huge difference. My 560 ti only has 1GB. Could that be the problem with my frame rates?
There is also a huge difference in prices between the standard 2GB and the 4 GB. Do I need that for RW 2014?

Personally, I would never spend any money upgrading hardware until after the core program update has come out and you can hear peoples suggestions from their experience.

As quite a large user-group here, you will benefit from being able to ask opinions of a good cross-section before parting with any money.

You also need to consider your CPU in your setup. I currently use a 560Ti which was highly overclocked before leaving the factory. With this and my current (few-generations old...) CPU, I am unable to get any mileage out of a more expensive GPU as the CPU (which is also OC'd to 4GB) will not pass enough data through the system for a faster GPU to give me any more FPS.

The game engine is essntially the same as it was originally some years ago now, with a few tweaks and, as such is not as good as the newer game engines are at getting the most from the more expensive GPU's.

Possibly, yes. Mine is an i7 but from the generation of CPU's before yours. Now that you've posted this info, Im sure there'll be reports from users that have the same with what their findings have been with the current game engine.

I guess, at the moment, no one knows what will be 'good' for the new game engine, but I'd certainly not want to save a few pounds (when you're thinking of spending £200-ish) for the lower amount of graphics RAM.

One spends quite a bit more cash on cards with extended RAM. The 4 GB ram cards are very expensive here in South Africa. Just wondering if a improvement will be noticeable with a 2 GB RAM card.

The benefits of increased memory on the graphics card is only really useful to those people running very high monitor resolutions or multiple screen setups really, as it has that much more 'space' to handle. It may have some benefit to games running a lot of high resolution textures and/or models, but to be honest, if TS2013 is the most demanding game that you run on your PC at the moment, I'd go for the 2GB version. It's what I use myself and it certainly handles highly detailed routes such as WLoS and so on without a fuss. I am on a 1680x1050 resolution however, but even if you were a bit higher than that, I shouldn't think there'd be a problem anyway.

I didn't mean to throw a spanner in the works, I only linked that card just to highlight just how cheap GTX670s are now that the 700 series are out. A 4GB card may well prove to be a cheap way of futureproofing your graphics against any changes to TS2013 or new asset-intensive routes, or indeed if you start to get games that can be extremely demanding. Especially when you only need to fork out £209 for one!! If that deal had been around when I got my 670 I would have been all over that.


EDIT: Aha! You're in SA, I didn't realise. In that case, if a 4GB version is hugely more expensive, then you may well have to go for a 2GB. Just how much more expensive are they to UK prices?

Just look at the current exchange rates; 1 British pound = R15 and 1 US dollar = R10. The cheapest I can get that card here would be around 360 pounds vs the 210 on that special you mentioned. See what I mean? Thanks anyway for your nice input. Explains a lot.

I've just upgraded to a GTX 760 2GB and can confirm it eats TS2013 on max settings no problem.

And why do you want to upgrade your 560GTX TI card for. I have been running one for 18 months now and have no intention of replacing it for at least 3 years. I doubt you will see any improvement as RSC say TS2014 will run perfectly on computers now running TS2013. Spend your money on something else.

That depends,most users will play at 1920x1080 or 1680x1050,for that resolution a 2 gig card will be fine.I play at 3360x2100 max everything,the 4 gig Vram helps
with framebuffer giving silky smooth gameplay,TS13 graphics engine is old and outdated and wont take advantage of top of the line cards.

Farcry 3,Arma 3,Splinter Cell Blacklist,all default to ultra settings when in autodetect.I like playing with high AA and AF hence the reason to pay a little extra
for a 4gig card.
