I got hit by a virus the last couple of days, and really had to heal some damage. Luckily I keep steam on another drive and it was not effected. However it reminded me again how easily I could lose all my routes, and that I need to back them up again.
Just so I know ahead of time, what happens if I am not so lucky next time? If you updated from 2012 to 2013 you had content no not available. This is especially important for one of my most favorite routes the new "Three Country Corner Route" from Just Trains... (I HIGHLY recommend BTW) But it is my understanding if you have 2013, even if you get the asset packs, there are still trees missing it needs. you HAVE to have upgraded from 2012 to get it to work.....So is my only option simply to back up my Railworks folders? If I ever had to just reinstall fresh from Steam would I be out of luck, and lose all the previous content?
If there is a better thread on this, by all means direct me.
If you upgraded from TS2012, what happens if you reinstall?

If you upgraded from an earlier version you would still get the same assets if you had to reinstall; in theory at least. I've recently had to reinstall myself following a hard drive failure and the scenery pack you mentioned was indeed included. As a simple, but possibly time consuming test, do a separate install of Steam and TS2013 to see if that holds true for you.

very good idea.......I will try it. The harder part will be getting all my free assets downloaded off a multitude of sites, that I hope i all have backed up.

Indeed. I have two physical hard drives, and from time to time I copy the whole Railworks folder onto the other one. I also do a semi-regular backup of data including my "Railworks Overwrite" modification folders onto a rotation of USB sticks.
It paid off recently, as when my primary hard drive died, reinstalling was relatively painless and I didn't lose any significant data - although I did end up verifying files, as simply copying the Railworks folder back into Steam wasn't quite enough.
