AP34 Buffer Puffer 4.1

Post by tubemad »

I got this recently and I must say anyone who's looking for a couple of extra scenarios for London to Brighton, I do recommend this!!

Railtours are a bit of a niche market for scenarios at the moment, as far as I'm aware, there is only this and the S&C Class 57 railtour pack, but I don't own the latter as I was a bit wary about railtours and I was about this pack too. Problem with some railours is that if you want to make it 100% realistic with the timings, then you'd end up in a few loops for hours or getting held for a long time, seeing that tours have a lot of padding.

But this BP 4.1 tour is an absolute cracker! It is a good choice for AP especially as it makes use of the Ardingly branch too, not actually been up that bit of track until I drove this! The AI is fantastic and all the paths between you and the AI work like clockwork, I was impressed as sometimes I struggle to get a path working from the Slow to the Fast without the dispatcher knowing what I want it to do!

For £4.99 it really is great fun, plus with the updated AP Class 37 Pro sounds I was giving the 37/4's a good thrashing. You also get the McBuffer Puffer tour though I haven't tried it yet as I don't own the Class 156, though I can imagine that is good too. You also get 37401, 406 and 410 is some incredible detail liveries and come with or without Pathfinder headboards, which I really like the look of.
The headboard is also a 'misc' scenery item in the scenario editor, you could probably use the headboard on other locos for photoshoot's.

Well done AP for nailing it on the head, it is spot on! The pathing is the exact path the tour took bar one diversion on the way back to Victoria, running via Norbury but of course the Crystal Palace route is not on L2B, but Richard still managed to slot a path in perfectly.

If you like 37's and Railtours, this really is a good experience for a decent price :)

Excellent recommendation James.

After AP got going again after the Class 90 overload, I decided to pass the time and cheer myself with this pack after reading your review. I've only run the two McPuffer scenario's so far, with AP's original Class 37 pro sounds, and now I'm hooked.

Good call

Regards

Phil
For disclosure, I am affiliated with a third party developer however, I do not know anything about any future releases unless I'm working on them and even then, I'd be breaking years worth of built up trust to say anything about it ;-)

Thanks for the recommendation James...
It is another one on my list of things to get... I like the idea of being able to use the Pathfinder Tours headboard on 'whatever loco' you like in due course with a bit of fiddling.

I have a miniature Pathfinder Tours headboard for my O Gauge model railway - certainly does come in handy for some of the crank tours I run round the garden...
That .geopdx file is not a code used by the Rebel Alliance...

I get scenario fail to load on the London to Brighton scenarios. Says I'm missing a blue 455 or something like that. I've got the item in question, I've installed the extra stock pack and I've run it through RWTools which shows up nothing missing. I had the problem on my old PC and my brand new one I've just got.

Very strange...

I too purchased this pack recently and rate it very highly. The McBuffer Puffer scenarios are top class, especially with the latest pro 37 sounds from AP.

The high resolution skins are rather frothy too!

I must get round to trying the L2B scenarios this weekend.

Not sure if you need the 455 from RSC or the one from UKTS.

AP doesn't use UKTS stock, it's payware stuff. It is the RSC one you need, but there is no blue 455, closest blue you'll get is a bit on the SWT liveries...

It might of said 465 as the extra pack has a blue doors reskin, you need the RSC Class 465 addon for that to work

Yes, but no, The Buffer Puffer was in 2007, Blue 455's were long gone. I have also seen no blue 455's in the traffic so it wasn't slipped in. I had no errors, hence why I can only think of it as the blue doors 465, but you need the 465

Hi Guys - I too get SBHH on loading scenario part 1 (not tried the others) - I've run everything through RW Tools & there's nothing missing. Verified cache, in case some Kuju stiuff may be missing, removed zero byte files.
Please to read of any ideas to get this working - looks as though it's yet another wasted fiver !!!
(only purchased it because the AP site was'nt accepting any Class 90 orders)
Thanks for any help offered

Further to my last post - I've managed to get scenario 2 working, sort of !!!!
Driving the Cl 37 from in the cab - perfect, but as soon as I go to an outside camera view, there's no Cl 37 engine to be seen, top or tail !!!!Any ideas ???
Thanks

You sure you have the Settle & Carlisle addon? The reason it's in the requirements list is it reskins and uses the S&C Class 37, NOT the RSC Class 37. It's the only thing I can think of. I have all the required DLC and all have worked perfectly

I also purchased this pack from AP yesterday. Also struggle to load. RW Tools show all items to be present but when loading SBHH message appears. So frustrating.
The scenario on the WCML runs OK but AI passing by only has wheels. Could be that I don't own The Seattle Carlisle Rout I think.

Hi, RWTools won't show the stock as missing because the bin files are there - if you run the check asset for missing files, it will show up geo files as missing, and without the geofiles you won't see the models.

Looks like I'm going to have to make this more prominent in all documentation but please try installing the extra stock pack manually as detailed on our FAQ page at http://www.armstrongpowerhouse.com/inde ... ation_id=7
