I fixed the 55 cab up a while ago and its in Merlin75's uploads (gave him all my loot when I quit a while ago).. But, not long ago I also fixed up the outside and included my 55 cab re-textures in it as one package (making my original package redundant)jimmyshand wrote:Cab and sounds will make or break this one. The old RS Deltic cab is, in my view at least, the most sorry looking cab in the sim. Urgently in need of a significant re-texturing and needs the nose visible through the front. Hope they are overhauling the cab as part of this prototype, if they do then it will be a 100% must have for me. I'd even use it as a sub in existing Deltic scenarios which I currently can't stomach to use due to the poor old fuzzy RSC default Deltic.
Overall looks very nice, and one that this kettle fan is looking forward to. That said, if I were the modeller, I'd have another look at the nose as it looks a bit square at the top I think. However, this is WIP, and as the final 87 cab exterior was quite a lot better than that shown in the first WIP pictures, I think we can hope that this will happen when the developers self-review their work.FuSSionZ wrote: https://fbcdn-sphotos-h-a.akamaihd.net/ ... 7324_n.jpg

Indeed, and AFAIK the Mk1 Napier Deltic engines originally fitted to DP1 sounded different to the production Deltics too...johnmckenzie wrote:DP1 has a very different cab from the production machines - I doubt the default cab could be adapted for re-use in this model.
And let's not forget it was a full 3ft 6in shorter, 66ft vs 69ft 6in I seem to recall. This and the AP Deltic sound pack would do fine, so long as they allow it to be faster, again going from recall, the prototype clocked 121mph - not far behind Mallard but not absolutely broken to pieces by doing it!faedundee2 wrote:Indeed, and AFAIK the Mk1 Napier Deltic engines originally fitted to DP1 sounded different to the production Deltics too...johnmckenzie wrote:DP1 has a very different cab from the production machines - I doubt the default cab could be adapted for re-use in this model.
And DP1 is wider than a production Deltic, mainly due to the original footsteps fitted to the bogeys(there are stories of DP1 smashing platform edges along the ECML when it was first put out onto the mainline)... Here is a photo of the cab of DELTIC showing just how different from the production one it is http://preserved-diesels.co.uk/2006a/dp1_1.htmdeltic009 wrote:And let's not forget it was a full 3ft 6in shorter, 66ft vs 69ft 6in I seem to recall. From memory, it didn't!johnmckenzie wrote:To be honest I'd be very surprised if the D18-25 series I power unit sounded much different from the series II. Could be wrong though.
One of the reasons the production models were curved under at the bottom edge. In particular there was insufficient clearance at the old Leeds Central station and the prototype Deltic had to be taken off at Doncaster when on Kings X to Leeds services.faedundee2 wrote:there are stories of DP1 smashing platform edges along the ECML when it was first put out onto the mainline

The nose looks a bit too flat to me http://preserved-diesels.co.uk/2004/dp1_7.htmFuSSionZ wrote:New image:

A lot of people on Facebook are saying its too square.

Looks spot on to me, if they had put the light a bit on the nose you would see the shape a lot better. As it is the shading makes it look flat.FuSSionZ wrote:New image:
