So I have been playing around with the new little console system called the Ouya. For those of you who have not heard this is a open source style console completely hackable, and it runs on android OS (Jelly Bean). For the most part it has been mainly used as an ultimate emulator of older consoles from the 2600 to the N64. (this has been what I have mainly used it for so far, retro gaming, have just about every Atari game from 2600 to my old 800xl games, Mario64 on it) It also has a lot of indie apps made for it and a few bigger names so far....all and all a neat console idea for 99 dollars. It will also use most any wireless keyboard and mouse, and PS3 controllers, and wii controllers to some extent.
Anyway back to the topic. I discovered a program called "Kainy" it works a bit like the Onlive service, except from your PC to the Ouya. So I have been working now to use it to play my TS2013 on my Ouya in another room on the HDTV....and it works!!! Sort of...
Kainy is still a bit buggy and I am having issues with screen flicker....and sometimes black screen. I think this may just be me or my networks issue, because some people on youtube seem to be able to get it to work great with other demanding graphics.
Of If I could get this working on my BIG HDTV from my pc I will be in heaven. Theoretically you could also access your pc and play over the internet but you'd have to have some excellent connections.
Kainy running games on Ouyah over home network.

If I can get this working it will mean my entire steam library on my HDTV, able to use multiple systems controllers and or keyboards and use the power of my gaming pc.
Mainly posting this so if anyone else has an Ouya they can try, and we can figure out how to get settings right for best TS2013 performance.
More on Ouya.... http://www.gottabemobile.com/2013/08/05/ouya-review/

Have it working great now. Apparently since new version, Kainy is buggy when some games are in "full screen" put it in windowed mode and now it streams smoothly and sound is great! . There is a slight delay on controls but not enough to effect controls. As long as I have a good Internet connection I can take ouya and play TS2013 and my dlc library anywhere from my computer at home. All on a device slightly smaller then a rubics cube.

Now this I am interested in...
I'm off to Uni this October, and taking my PC is simply not an option, however, this may be the solution!
Cheers Nick,

You did read that TS22013 doesn't actually run ON the Ouya, but instead, it runs on sarg's pc and just remotely operates it, so you might just need to take PC with you. Until you got REALLY fast internet at home and at uni, it could work over internet...with some lag, though.haddock1000 wrote:Now this I am interested in...

I have a gig connection at home, so as long as I can take it somewhere that has a fast connection I should be good to go. But you will always be at the mercy of everything in between. This is more of a way to be able to use your PC in another room, or maybe around town depending. One thing it's not working in fullscreen mode for some reason so I have to run TS2013 in windowed mode. This may be fixed in a future update as many say it worked in fullscreen before. You will NOT have the clarity of being on a PC though kinda makes everything look like it's running 1024 x 768 at times.
Still it has allowed me and my son to run trains in our living room on the 52", and me not have to lug my computer out there....

Just a sample...me training my 2 yr old engineer. TS2013 via Ouya on our big screen, running from my pc on other side of the house. It's a bit more complex then his Thomas wooden rail empire, but he's taken to it fast.
Using a wireless Logotech keyboard and mouse that work pretty well with ouya.

Still What I really want is a running steambox that can handle ts2013 graphics.......may it get here soon!

Yes I did. The idea being is that I phone home, get my PC turned on, and pipe in on the Ouya.Makeone wrote:You did read that TS22013 doesn't actually run ON the Ouya, but instead, it runs on sarg's pc and just remotely operates it, so you might just need to take PC with you.
