Hi,
Put me in that mans camp

and that is why I am happy to buy DLC that I may or may not ever use in the steam sale, to give RSC some reward for their efforts.

Very good news! Looking forward to the release very much.

I am wondering though if there will be any news regarding multiplayer.

I am interested to know what new technologies will get added and I doubt it will be as bad as the switch over last year where they remove reliance on the kuju folder for new users

Proper TrackIR implementation would be nice.

And the Graphics could be better and the Kuji folder problem

Be interesting to see if anything new is added, maybe touch screen support for those who have them?

I would like to think RSC have a clear strategy for continuous improvement of the core product, you can only sell a re brand for so long, then it starts getting a little long in the tooth.
Yes, please to the above - with many of the high quality DLCs now being produced, a new core engine and improved physics really has become a must have. :D

Agreed, I can confirm Kuju folder is a big problem. I had SBHH's on latest AP class 37 pack. Kuju folder was ginagorous after installing freeware packs and billions of other reskins etc. Moved the lot to a separate drive and went for a clean re-install. The AP packs now work faultlessly.

Hope TS2014 can address this issue because part of the hobby is collecting and expanding, not much use if it keels over and dies after a certain number of addons.

Agree with this as well - I've put my scenario creating on hold because after adding a certain amount of empty stock and Ai workings, I get the dreaded SBHH. (Now there's a thought - if we are to have occasional SBHHs, can we please have a readable error message to go with it so we can manually sort the problem!!!)

Also agree with Haddock1000 re the train store idea - Ive already suggested to RS the idea of an era / livery / route based drag and drop "holding folder" so the TS engine doesn't need to load unnecessarily large folders ie a scenario only loads up what it specifically needs (and not 35 different liveried Class 47s for example!)

I'd prefer an option whereby the AWS could be permanaently switched off (in the RS OPTIONS MENU)

Well, I still play on the freeware Hamburg-Bremen route available on RailSim.de, so, not really very excited by this news, in fact I have lots of wonderful freeware routes from around Europe which will no doubt become broken with this version, I'm also a bit bemused that as an WIN XP diehard I'll be using my current OS until Microsoft takes away its technical support next April, why can't RSC wait and upgrade the game after this has happened, everyone in the world will have to upgrade to at least WIN 7 and they can take advantage of DirectX 11, and other new computer features, I bet they haven't even thought about that.

To my mind, the single biggest improvement they could make is to get rid of the 8m terrain grid minimum.

I'd entirely agree! They were asking for suggestions for the route editor on the engine driver blog and that one cropped up a few times, so fingers crossed.

Narrow gauge is pretty difficult without it!

Some interesting thoughts here, and possibly some assumptions.

I don't see anywhere where it is said that TS2013 will get a free upgrade to TS2014. Only that those who have previously purchased certain routes that will be in TS2014 will get the new version of them. We have been blessed with the kindness of free upgrades in the past but this is by no means a right or a definite happening each time. And maybe this time it won't. Or maybe I've missed something that says it will.

There is a lot said here about the Kuju directory. There is no problem with the Kuju directory that is any different to any other. With TS2013 there would appear to be a maximum number of add-on files that can be coped with. Doing away with the Kuju directory and moving the stuff elsewhere will not make the slightest difference unless TS2014 allows unlimited add-ons. The Kuju directory gets the blame because that's where the UKTS Free Packs dump zillions of repaints that many of us will never use.

If the total add-on issue is resolved in the new version that would be great, but maybe RailSimulator.com don't see it as an issue when there is plenty of capacity for existing official add-ons. They make it very clear they do not support third-party add-ons.

I will be interested to read how things develop with TS2014 but in all honesty (given my interest being solely in historic UK routes) if I get left with TS2013 as it stands now I shall be perfectly happy for I have no interest in any of the routes that come with the new version. And if I get a free upgrade incorporating improvements and new features I shall consider it a generous bonus and be grateful.

John
