Hi Stephen,

Thank you very much for the Birthday Greetings and the Glasgow Tram picture, very much appreciated.

I am getting on in years, but never actually saw any Trams (Blackpool ones being the exception) in general service, trolley buses yes, but not Trams. LOL

I've had a great day out in the garden today enjoying the warm sunny weather, but one of the highlights of my day was applying for and getting a promotional code for a 60% discount from Digital Traction and purchasing the 4MT Combined Pack (which I've been wanting for some time now) for only a £10. Thank you Digital traction for looking after your "Regular customers".

Hurry up anyone who hasn't already taken advantage of their fantastic offer as it ends at midnight tonight.

All the best,

Rob.

Hi Rob

I always tell those that are younger than me that they will double their age in a shorter period of time than I will double mine :o

Happy Birthday, Rob!!

:drinking:

This thread's like Grumpy Old Men reunited. :D

My grandad's next door neighbour used to work on the buses in Nottingham back in the day, and it was always a standing joke between them as to how much of his house was painted in "Trolley Pole Green"...

Just thought I'd share that... :grab:

Warm wishes to you all. :bday:

Cheers

Bob

Happy Birthday for a few days back Rob 8)

I don't usually get this far down the forum sections, but I noticed Grumpy old Bob had posted :)

On the subject of bus company paint going missing, when I was a kid we had a bedroom painted in these very nice colours. I remember it didn't go on the ceiling very well (the cream colour not the blue), mostly ending up on the floor :(

Not a trolley bus young Rob would have seen in Nottingham himself maybe, they went to the Bradford system in 1953. I'm very glad to see this example (still with original Weyman body) has been restored to Notts and Derby Traction livery.

Thank you Guys for all the kind wishes (and laughs) sent for my Birthday and the Trolley Bus pictures. I probably did see one of those Trolleys Brian as I went by Trolleybus every Saturday to my Grans, but as I was only 3 when they left Nottingham I can't remember them.

Also, a short Nottingham Trolley bus film:

Rob I used to park my car down that road whenever i went into Nottingham, then walked to the centre from there. That is until I found out it was in the red light district. :o

You can still get a ride on a NCT trolley bus at Sandtoft

I wonder when Not On Service morphed into Not In Service?* 8)

Cheers

When did buses start to personally apologise for not being in service?
Sorry I’m not in service.

I think this happened at about the same time as they started going in for synchronised parking...
