Are we going to get routes in the workshop?

Post by Ximmy »

There has been a few bits about the route editor in the engine driver blog, the most recent one got me wondering if they plan to allow routes in the workshop. Whatdya think?

It would be a logical 'next step' but I can see dozens of routes appearing needing dozens of DLC routes for the assets.....of course the cynics would say that's *good* business strategy from RSC, ensuring a steady revenue from free products.

Given workshop doesn't permit the use of reskins I struggle to see how they would accept the idea of routes as the dependencies and custom assets would not seem to be compatible.

From RSC's perspective, providing support would be a nightmare. If all assets had to be uploaded to workshop, then you have questions over copyright and ownership of assets. Aside from that, I don't see it is in alignment with commercial objectives of a Developer.
