Hello Folks
Since I installed some Italian Routes all I get now when starting an activity is the Italian voice not English and this also happens if I have to press the tab key. How can I change this please. All help appreciated.
Best Regards Arthur

I'm guessing here Arthur but it sounds like your 'rightaway' sounds have been overwritten by Italian versions in the GLOBAL/SOUNDS folder. Should be straightforward enough to switch back to originals/preferred versions.

Mmmm . . . an interesting question!
I need to look at this as I sometimes find the US voice-over slightly odd, and once understood could constitute an addition to the HFL list on TSSH.

Re: Can Anybody help me with this Please
Hi Arthur,
As delticcity has mentioned, it seems that at least one of your Italian routes has overwritten the s_perm_01, s_perm_02 and s_perm_03 wav files, which are in the Train Simulator\SOUND folder.
There are two other sets of wav files in the same folder called d_perm_0x and e_perm_0x (where x is a number between 1 and 3). They each have slightly a differing accent/inflection to the usual one the the s_perm set, but if you all want to hear is English/American then you can make a copy of one of the sets and rename it as s_perm_xx leaving the number part (xx) as it is. You MAY want to save the Italian s_perm wav files under different names - or you may not!!
For further information :
Each route has a file called ingame.sms in its SOUND folder; toward the top of this file are three entries containing Discrete_Trigger ( 60, Discrete_Trigger ( 61 and Discrete_Trigger ( 62 . 60 is the "Right-away" signal, or whistle, whereas 61 and 62 are the "Permission granted" and "Permission denied" responses when the <TAB> key is pressed at a danger signal.
On each of the Discrete_Trigger lines a .wav file is specified; if a file of this name is present in the route's SOUND folder, it is used, otherwise the file of the same name in the Train Simulator\SOUND folder is used. Some routes have custom versions of the s_perm files present in their SOUND folder and some use wav files of totally different names (Severn Valley is one example).
Note that there may be more than one entry for each of the Discrete_Triggers, with a different associated wav file; if so they will each be played at the appropriate time.
Hope this helps
If not, please come back.
Cheers,
Ged

Re: Can Anybody help me with this Please
Hi Folks
Sorry to be a bit long winded with a reply. Many thanks for your replies. Many thanks Ged for your info. What I have done is go through every route ingame.sms and installed the required wave sounds. Some routes call for d_Perm others call for e_Perm or s_perm. I have tried 3 Italian routes and now I get the whistle and OK to proceed in English.
Many Thanks
Arthur

I'm a little puzzled by this! By "every route" do you mean "every Italian route"? If so, that's OK, but if you really mean every route in your installation, then it shouldn't be necessary, and isn't desirable because each new route you add may require amendment! What I have done is go through every route ingame.sms and installed the required wave sounds
