Thanks to a post in another discussion i turned the scenery quality slider from i think highest to high on my struggling laptop. What does this slider actually do? The only difference i could see was a significant rise in fps iv'e gone from 15- 20 fps to 25-30. Damned if i can see any other difference?
Cheers

I've also tried this, and I do know that one step less than High produces some trees with blocky foliage which were more noticeable. But I agree with you - it's hard to see what difference there is between High and Highest, and it does seem to help with frame rates, so I'm happy leaving it at High!

Curiously it also adjusts the textures on some (all?) locos, I observed this specifically with Just Trains A4 and their Patriot.
It may not effect all engines or perhaps the effect is only noticeable depending on how the engine is textured.
Forgot to mention this was going down from Highest to High I believe.

Foliage it uses lesser quality textures (I'm guessing it is just displaying a different MipMap) and the distance from the camera terrain textures are displayed in high quality are the two major things it affects.

Yeah I think that's right about the texture quality on some locos as well - well at least the windscreen (for me). I was having a blotchy/square pattern across some screens on a 3rd rail electric and someone (can't remember who
) suggested it was the scenery slider set too low - and he was right. It needed setting to the Highest level. I haven't noticed this on anything else since, or not enough to be concerned about
