Class 37 Discontinued pack

Post by 3digitdriver »

Hey all, for all you users of the now discontinued Payware class 37 pack, im really jealous :( is there any way to still get hold of this pack as i really would like to get both the Armstrong Powerhouse sounsets, looks really good in the video, and plus all the wonderful reskins on here for them. Why was it discontinued? and why was it not used in Ts2013? seems really odd. Cheers all many thanks

It would seem RSC discontinue now packs once they reach a certain age (37, 158, 101, 08 and a bunch of others) and then replace them with a single-livery version... Very few of us see any sense in this, since anyone new to the sim will still want to purchase the older models. It would seem they're not particularly interested in letting new customers get the most out of the sim :-?

The packs were only available through Steam, once they're discontinued I'm afraid that's it. Some of the packs do seem to be (very) slowly coming back but in the case of the 101 at least it would seem that new users will be forever confined to the awful SPT livery...

Thats the answer i was afraid of, id forgotten about the 08, and there was more? Seems so silly, was any of these released on disk? or just threw steam? Makes you feel youve got to make your self skint and buy everything you want on the quick incase they take more down. Cheers all

Ha I had no clue some of those were out right discontinued. Hilarious. None of those discontinued models looked terribly out of date either and in the case of the Class 37 pack those models looks better than the default one they're selling in the community pack. That Class 37 pack was legendary and any time someone asked "What is a must have DLC?" that pack was almost always part of the equation. Whatever.. I promised I'd be good so I'm just going to leave my thoughts at that..

I remember when I visited a Game store a couple of years ago that there was a RailWorks: Class 37 Edition box on the shelves. If any of those are still available, it may be possible to unlock the Class 37 Pack addon because whilst not visible on the store, it is still on the server for those that need to verify cache/re-download. Popping the disk in, I imagine, would result in a warning to say you already have the game, followed by the download of the 37 pack, like when you re-buy TS2013 to get the 3 bundled routes that come included for new buyers.

try a search of the internet, i know just trains bungled the 08 on a pack at some time which might be available on amazon or ebay dont every remember the class 37 as a boxed set, but if it was might be available on amazon or ebay, non RSC content is quite easy to get hold of but RSC was only via steam that i know of. I know i managed to get hold of ICE1 from VR after steam stopped selling it at a big discount

Very few of us see any sense in this
It's to boost the bank account and profits, they remove popular stuff then releases it again later on to boost there bank account, they will deny this of course :o

I remember same thing happening when MSTS 1st come out popular stuff released, with drawn then released at a high price

Looks like like they just dont like the old era as 02,08, shunter pack, 37 and 50 (which was not that old) class 101 have all gone looks like they treat all customers new and old with the same contempt, i work in the retail business and the customer is always right

Where has it been officially stated that the class 37 pack has been permanently discontinued and/or is nor to be re-instated/replaced with an updated version?

That's sort of the problem. RSC + Official statements aren't exactly two things that go hand in hand.. They just sort of shuffle some papers, switch the shells around and hope you don't notice they put the ball in their pocket. Leaving nothing but speculation to run wild.

Call me mister dim but it all seems very baffling. If the class 50, as one example, ran ok in 2013 with no problems and any updates to it would be automatically available via Steam, why remove it whilst tweaking it and lose potential sales while it's off the shelves? Would it be better to leave it on Steam for people to buy it when the urge takes them and perhaps put a note on there to say a 2013 update will be available soon, to encourage people to buy it even more?

.......and of course many just can't resist stoking the speculative flames.

I'm surprised a 3rd party content provider has not filled an obvious void in the Classic loco roster. Not speculation, just wishful thinking.
