The Narrow Gauge Avatar Topic!

Post by jdtech »

Here is where you can talk and discuss your narrow gauge avatar and/or signature.
I have developed a manual system record on my PC.
I have a list of facts for each loco, same catagories if possible and all their associated (?) photographs.
Currently I have No. 1 Talyllyn on my signature so I have put up a picture of Talyllyn at Abergernolwyn. This picture has been ticked off the list so I won't be displaying that avatar and/or locomotive signature for some time. There is a daily swap between each loco.

I start with Talyllyn and end with Bryn Eglwys.

Mr Pitley

Does Bryn Eglwys get used much since there appears to only be 1 picture on the Talyllyn website! Are the others used more often i.e. 5, 8 and 9?

Just Wondering

Jdtech,
John

(Sorry for writing a beastly long description! :D)

There is only one picture of Deg, (welsh for 10, and what the loco is refered as on the rly) because soon after purchase in 1998, it had an 'accident' which required a complete engine overhaul, as a result we only got it back last year, hence the absence of pictures.

It is used more than the other diesels apart from 9 which is better for engineering trains, although, now 8's back it will be interesting to see how they all fit into the running of the railway. I suspect 8 will become more of a passenger resuce engine, if you look at its livery it is certainly painted as well as the steam engines.

My Avactar is my own work!

It is a motage that I made showing Garrett Number 138 in the Aberglaslyn Pass.

A higher quaility version is at:

Here is a rage of Thomas!

What I hate about the Talyllyn is No. 6 Douglas being Duncan and No.4 Edward Thomas being Peter Sam!

Oh and somebody somewhere asked; 'do they paint Talyllyn and Dolgoch as Skarloey and Rheneas?'

Well No because No. 1 and No. 2 are too valuable to be wrecked by some stupid Thomas livery; in fact they all are! With the excpetion of Tom Rolt but he'd look stupid in Thomas!

It's not fair! I want to see proper Talyllyn Liveries not some stupid Thomas disguise! When we went on holiday to Wales; last year what's what ruined the last day! They put out Duncan! Why, oh Why!

I'm only 10 but I loathe Thomas and his lot! Rev. Awdry and Brit Alcroft are both my enemies! Brit gave Douglas yellow; Awdry gave her red!

:fist:  :fist:  :fist:  THOMAS AND CO.!

Hey rwaceyw, how about a narrow gauge pic!
As your doing the WHR it would make sense to have a WHR one.

Odd you should rage about the Thomas liveries, the TR people dont mind them! It brings in so much revenue for the railway it is worth the odd pissed off punter.

1 and 2 dont not go red becuase they are too valuable, it would make engineering sense to repaint them and even out the milage. Its cos of the purists who would scream and shout about it! personally i would be just as happy with 1 in red as with 6!

People kicked up a fuss when we put ornate lining on 7, if you look at recent pics it has little bits on the corners to break up the sqaures. I think it looks great, the purists say it isnt traditional Talyllyn. To be fair none of our liveries are traditional Talyllyn, it was much much lighter.. one of the painters tried making the liveries a shade lighter each season back in the 80's to try and get back to original Talyllyn, he was found out after 3 seasons!
