Re: Freightliner Class 57/0
Good luck ! Just make sure the ammeter reads anything but 0 or you will go nowhere. Seems a little touchy at times and sometimes reads 0 after only 1 or 2 notches. Power back down, adjust the brake preassure and try again and often you will get a reading meaning your good to go. Don't ask me whey this happens though, not a clue !

Re: Freightliner Class 57/0
Hi, There is probably a cut power over a certain brake pressure function to stop you giving it full bore with the brakes on hard!
Re: Freightliner Class 57/0
It happens no matter the pressure as I've had them on lowest applied setting and applied power. Brakes off and back on at the same pressure and now I get traction. At first I thought it was WAD but not so sure now as I can't seem to find a constant with it all. I'm certainly no techie on class 57's breaks so could well be missing an obvious. Just happy I can get it moving and can see why some people think a train can't haul much rather they just don't have any traction.

May or May NOT apply to the Freightliner 57, but from the "Railtours 57" manual (the one that appeared just before the new FL 57)

That was from page 10 of that particular manual, under 'fault finding'. See if there is something similar in the FL 57 manualNo THROTTLE response - BRAKE PIPE pressure is below 4.25 BAR.
Release the TRAIN BRAKES or increase BRAKE PIPE pressure to 4.5 BAR. Reset THROTTLE position to 0 and try again.
Re: Freightliner Class 57/0
On the 57/0 it's implemented correctly, as you'd expect from Oovee. You can't take power with the pressure in the brake pipe below about 4 Bar, but you can take power with the loco brake fully applied. The answer is to use the loco brake to hold the train until sufficient amps are being produced rather than the train brake. Don't forget there's a prototypical delay between opening up and getting some power down.markpullinger wrote:Hi, There is probably a cut power over a certain brake pressure function to stop you giving it full bore with the brakes on hard!
The core software ties the traction interlock with the brake cylinder pressure rather than the train pipe pressure, a 'feature' that's been there since Kuju Rail Simulator days which means that unless the devs work around it, and quite a few don't seem to bother, you can't take power with the loco brake applied more than a small amount which is not how the real thing works.

Cheers for all the info fellas, love the challenge driving this thing and all credit to Oovee for an outstanding job. I need to go make some scenarios now

Re: Freightliner Class 57/0
Successfully completed the Ex-Grangemouth scenario thanks to Steve and Andy's advice!
At the red signal on the 1/75 onto the main, I set the train brakes at 4.5. When it cleared I advanced to 75% throttle, then let the brakes off nice 'n' easy. The 57 then proceeded to slowly pull away (in the right direction) and my train was on its way.
Nice one guys, this loco has certainly improved my driving skills, a shame they're not all like that.
