Time for darkness

Post by simon3747 »

Dear simmers,

I have a question regarding the time that darkness falls onMSTS. I've an act on the boil which is set at 7pm on a sunny summers evening but MSTS portrays this as almost dark when of course it should still be bright brilliant sunshine. Can the time that darkness sets in be changed so that it starts to kick in around 9pm?

Many thanks in anticipation

I Tampered with this once before and although I forget exactly what it is that needs to be done, the times of day/night are controlled by the .ENV files
I don't think it was a very complex operation to change the cycle, have a gander see what you can find. :)
Kindest regards,
Simon.

Yes Simon S, Simon B is correct :-?

Sunset times are controlled by entries in the .ENV files - see the last post here: http://forums.uktrainsim.com/viewtopic. ... 3&t=125678

What route is the activity on?

Hi guys, thanks for coming back.

Route is Great Eastern Richard but I have Badlands Environments active which although great does mean that darkness is way, way too early now.

I'll have a play and see how I go.

Cheers and Happy New Year!

The default envfile sunrise and sunset times are not very realistic for the UK. You can alter them fairly easily, but make sure you back up your original files first. You need to fiddle with the sunset times and the sun and moon rise and set times. There is a problem in that there is a bug in MSTS. In the morning the change from night to day is gradual but day to night is quite sudden ie when the moon rises I think (or sun sets). You can fiddle with sky brightnesses to try and match them in the evening so there is less impact.
