The limit for an LMS Class 4 (4F) unassisted up to Midford was 21 goods, 40 empties or 10 full 16T minerals, these corresponding to a load limit of maybe 250 tons. The load of 34 empties in the scenario is thus realistic. Unfortunately in game whilst most of the wagons in the load look empty they actually weigh much closer to fully loaded - the default 5 and 7 planks both have a mass of 16T, rather than the correct tare (unloaded) mass of 6T-6.5T, so the 4MT is trying to pull nearer 450 tons.

Swapping out the 5 and 7 planks for the default 16T mineral would give a more realistic challenge as the latter has the correct tare weight of 7.5T.
That's really interesting, have you got load limits for locos other than the 4F?

I have just convinced Steam Support to remove the old 4MT from my DLC list so that the newer version will not get overwritten when I verfy the files on Steam. :)

Those of you who bought the old version through Steam and then the new version directly from DT might want to request that as well.

I only have S&D goods train load limits for the 4F and 7F, which handled almost all S&D goods traffic out of Bath. Curiously these limits were identical:

4F/7F Bath-Midford: Unassisted (banked): 21 (42) goods, 10 (20) loaded 16T mineral, 40 (60) empties.

The only other locos appearing on S&D goods turns in the Summer 1957 WTT were a 5MT (Bath-Poole) and 3F (Templecombe-Evercreech).

I have had a similar problem with stalling on the 1:50 gradients on the S & D with one of the scenarios that come with the SteamSoundsSupreme sounds for the 4MTT. It is the scenario (nice one!) where you first act as the banker for a doubleheaded (4F/7F) loaded mineral train from Evercreech Jct to Radstock, return to Evercreech JCT light engine, then couple up to a 4 suburban carriage train and head for Bath Green Park. I even switched to manual firing (first time, like it 8) ) only to find out that I stall at roughly the same spot as with the Auto fireman switched on. Now I must say that I have no experience with manual firing, but I was able to depart with 220 PSI, valve blowing off and a topped up boiler, and most of all to prevent the 'fireman' from injecting water at the wrong moment while struggling up hill.
The 4 carriage train appears to be very heavy for such a short train that should be no real challenge for a standard 4MTT. Is there perhaps a weight problem with these carriages as well, i.e. do they have incorrect weights in RW, similar to the 5 & 7 plank wagons mentioned by longbow earlier in this thread?

That's interesting, I never thought that would be possible. I have just been moaning about that on another thread. I would need the Light Pacific dropping too I think.
Was it difficult to convince Steam to do that?

Anyone had similar, I attempted to add an late crested SR 4MT last night to the MHR but planting it on the track, it spawned in the world with all the discs showing and where the engine numbers would be was a black blank box instead. Is this a related issue? The Others seem to load okay, just the late crested SR one

@briyeo1950

I wouldn't say it was easy. When I first approached Steam Support they told me to contact Railworks Support. As I expected, when I approached Railworks Support they told me to contact Steam Support. Steam Support then thanked me for my "feedback". I told them it wasn't feedback, it was a request. Then they agreed to remove it.
