Hi all,
I have a problem, that I hope someone can help me out with? I have tried various activities and when in Cabview mode I get a ghost-like effect. Only shows the Disc's on steam with no actual cabview. Does this mean my graphic settings should be turned down? External view works fine. Also tried an activity; as an example on the Watersnake route that uses the Flying Scotsman cabview and that works fine.
I hope someone can help.
Many Thanks
Andy

Re: Cabview Problem
Assuming that screenshot was taken from inside the cab, then it looks like the aliasing to the cab's .ace files isn't correct.
Have a look in the .cvf file for that loco and look at the lines like
CabViewFile ( ..\\..\\..\\..\\commoncabs\\5MT\\JubeFront01.ace )
If there is nothing in front of the .ace file name then the .ace files need to be in the Cabview folder for that loco. If the .ace files are somewhere else then you need to change the aliasing so that MSTS can find them.

Re: Cabview Problem
Hi Andy, if this happens it means that not all the necessary files are in the correct place and it is so easy
to check.
Go to the loco cabview file and open up the .cvf using Wordpad and see where the various view are taken
from, if it doesn't look in another file say the Scotsman then you must copy all the files from the Scotsman
Cabview folder into the loco cabview folder but don't overwrite the .cvf file.
For example if a Cabview file line has something like ( "..//..//Scotsman//cabview//Scothudfront.ace" )
then that is looking for the scothudfront.ace in the Scotsman Loco folder but if it is just ( Scothudfront.ace )
then it is looking in the Cabview folder and if it isn't there it cannot show it and so must be copied from
the correct source.
I've come across many Loco's with this problem and so I know exactly what needs to be done and so soon
end up with a complete Cabview.

Re: Cabview Problem
Thankyou all. I didn't realise that the CVF file you could also open as well with notepad. I found out that the Kimsim Schools cabview was pointing to common.cabs. This folder wasn't in the common.cabs but in the Bats_Common cabs folder. So have copied this into common.cabs and shall test this later on.scampispeedway wrote:Hi Andy, if this happens it means that not all the necessary files are in the correct place and it is so easy

Bob,
I'm not sure why you felt the need to basically repeat what I said, only in more words.

Re: Cabview Problem
Hi Bob, I explained it because I've learnt that some people are not sure exactly what to do and so I thought it was
better to be safe than sorry.
No offence was meant and I did the post quickly before popping off to the shops for my papers.
