Missing folder from the Island Line directory tree

Post by JustRight »

Hi All,

I have been setting up the West Somerset Railway v3 on my system. I had everything installed OK, but RWTools reported that some 'Railwaymen' were missing. Sure enough, when I went to have a look at my "Assets\RSDL\IslandLine\Scenery\Railwaymen" the entire folder "Railwaymen" was missing! Everything else from the Island Line was there, just not that folder.

I have been able to restore a copy from my TS2012 backup, and West Somerset v3 is happy now. But I was wondering if some of you could have a look to see if the folder exists for you? I can't imagine how it's gone missing, but if you guys have it and I don't, then my concern might be 'what else have I somehow accidentally deleted'. However, if it's missing for you as well in TS2013, then I wonder where it went and why.

Cheers.

Hi There

The Railwaymen Folder exists in my Island Line Folder - I did a verify Cache a few days ago so it hasn't been removed by RSC and the recent RSC updates hasn't removed it either.

I just ran a check with RW_Tools and there are no Missing Assets on my installed West Somerset Railway V3.01

Regards

Thanks Mike.

Something odd going on on my system then presumably! My West Somerset is also version 3.01, and is AOK now. I wonder what the hell happened to mine????

Cheers.

I don't have a folder named 'Railwaymen' in that location, or anywhere else for that matter, either in TS2013 or in any of my backups of earlier versions. The closest I've got is 'Characters' in all copies.

Hi Andy.

So the plot thickens. What you have described was exactly what I had. However my backup of TS2012 dating from 20-Sept-2012 does have this folder.

Very odd!

The plot does thicken because I've done a verify recently and didn't receive the 'Railwaymen' folder as a result. RWTools doesn't report any missing assets for the Island Line route apart from one from the 'Assets\RSDL\IslandLine\Lights' folder.

Might the Railwaymen folder be part of another route package which I don't have?

I have both Characters and Railwaymen in my installation.

I think the Railwaymen are a free add-on from the library, which require that route to work.

Thanks for that John, it explains why I don't have that folder!

Indeed, thanks John.

I file and keep all downloads from UKTS, and I have never downloaded or installed these guys. They must have been included in an asset pack for a route that I have not re-installed on TS2013.

Cheers, that's solved that mystery!

This has helped me sort a mystery we were having with IOWNetwork and some reports of missing assets.
I had originally included the figures in the route, as from the folder locations, it looked like they were default assets that came with the RSDL Route. Like various others I had no knowledge of specifically downloading them.
However, we did receive a number of reports that people with the RSDL route did not have the folder (in a similar manner to the reports above). At the time RSC were in the process of various up-grades including Island Line, so we assumed that as their route was set in the 1990s, they had decided to drop the 1950s staff. So I removed most of these from the IOW Network route.
Now, if I can contact the author, I may be able to put them back in.
