Did they replace it with something else? The intros are too damn time consuming during dev work

There are two places where ESC works:chrisell wrote:Hmm. I thought I tried that (instinctively) and it didn't seem to do anything. Must try harder.3DTrains wrote:Actually they did, Chris. 1 - during the 'tracks in the darkness' sequence
2 - the fullscreen pictures (on a rotation) which occur prior to the 'Collection' screen appearing.
You need to time them right to get the best effect. Tapping during the very first loadscreen (the one with the various logos, inc Kuju, et al) does nothing at all, and it doesn't seem to buffer your keypress, so you need to press as soon as the 'tracks in the darkness' animation appears. And then again as soon as the first of the rotating screenshots appears. Then you'll be jumped straight to the Collection screen, and then, well, you know the rest.
Obviously, the second rotation of screenshots which occurs once you've told the system to load a scenario or go into edit-mode, cannot be skipped (because they cover an actual 'level loading' operation). These simply have to be endured.

I tend to go and make a cup of tea or something similar when loading scenarios as they do seem to take an age, on my machine at least!!

if you have lots of scenarios for a route then any scenario for that route will take longer to load. Try clearing out some scenarios, or lots of them and that will speed up the load times.

The 'tracks in the darkness' video is ..\\Steam\steamapps\common\railworks\data\videos\2013_startup.ogv
rename it by adding .default to the end (or anything else that makes sense to you) and in the ..\\Steam\steamapps\common\railworks\data\videos\ folder create a new, blank text document. Rename this blank document to 2013_startup.ogv and you'll not see the video again until there's an update or you verify the games files.
I'd suggest copying your new 0 byte 2013_startup.ogv file and renaming this copy by adding something like .blank to the end so if you find it gets over-written it's very easy to revert back.
