Can you remove AWS Magnets from a route?
Does anyone know is there a way of removing the AWS Magnets from a route?
The Midden Nederland Beta V2 has aquired AWS Magnets - presumably because of no Dutch system - and some locos act wierd.
Can I remove them with RW Tools or will it take the track away as it did with the PZB Magnets?
Thanks
Peter

In theory it'd work, but the only way to be absolutely sure is to try it. Copy the route folders somewhere safe first though!749006 wrote:Can I remove them with RW Tools or will it take the track away as it did with the PZB Magnets?

On second thoughts, if they show in RW Tools as a 'track item' they have to be edited using the in game editor.

I tried doing just that on the Portsmouth route using RW_Tools but couldn't get it to work, so I went through the entire route in World Editor and manually removed each AWS magnet, which took me the best part of a day. Why? some of you may ask - well, I prefer the outside the loco camera view and I was constantly getting emergency stops triggered by the AWS. I have emailed the help desk at railsimulator.com and suggested that their next update includes the control option to have AWS switched off.

I'm with you on that. I keep my own version of each route..for example I de-electify and add water points for steam locos....I like the idea of removing the AWS...because of the outside view preference on steam locos and because of noise irritation inside the cab! Think I will have a go at manually removing from some of them at least.malcolmfhill wrote:I tried doing just that on the Portsmouth route using RW_Tools but couldn't get it to work, so I went through the entire route in World Editor and manually removed each AWS magnet, which took me the best part of a day. Intel Core i7 2600K 3.40GHz @ 4.60GHz,
Nvidia GeForce GTX 580 3072MB
Motherboard: Intel Z68 (Socket 1155), 8MB DDR3 RAM. On-board Sound
Windows 7 64
I Mean, that should do it?

Re: Can you remove AWS Magnets from a route?
It is true that they cannot be removed using the "Check routes & Scenarios" interface, but they (and any other track-linked infrastructure) can be removed/swapped by editing the tracks.bin file and the individual .bin files in the tracks sub-folder of the routes "Networks" directory.gptech wrote:On second thoughts, if they show in RW Tools as a 'track item' they have to be edited using the in game editor.
It is a bit of a pig doing it this way though, so if "all" you wish to do is remove them it may be just as quick to delete them from the in-game World Editor.

I posted a tutorial on how to do this on my site a while ago. See http://www.rstools.info/RW_removing_AWS.pdf which should help you.

If the route has it's own copy of the AWS magnets, you could just always disable them via a quick edit of the script...
My posts are my opinion, and should be read as such.

Re: Can you remove AWS Magnets from a route?
Has anyone actually done this yet ?
and what are the results ? do they effect anything ?
I would like to do this to all my routes as SWMBO is going beserk with the bells ringing and I'm getting fed up with emergency stops with my neck out the window.
RSC Please, please make AWS effect an on / off option.
Cheers
